"I don't know" Jason sent a text to his friend, he was confused himself, how could she expect him to answer such a question? He sighed and slipped the phone back into the pocket only to take it out again on the sound of a 'bleep'.
"It's okay you just need time, discovering your sexuality isn't that easy, I know." The text read, he didn't know what to think of it "thanks, I app-" he typed before erasing it all and taking a brief moment to think..."Ok", send, he didn't need to answer anything else right? She'd understand. He turned his phone off and slid it back into his pocket as he gently rested his head against the wall he was sitting under. He was about to go to England and was waiting for the bus down at the school. As excited as he was, not being able to see his best friend for a couple days sounded terrifying. The journey there wasn't too bad, he got to chat to his friends for a good bit of it, he enjoyed it, but it didn't fill the feeling of emptiness he had inside, it felt like he was leaving something behind, but it wasn't his fault Naoise couldn't come. He dropped his belongings on the floor beside the bed, and let his body drop onto the soft cushions. He closed his eyes for a minute and just let his limbs relax. With a deep breathe he opened his eyes and reached for his phone.
"I miss him already" Jason sent a text without any context, his friend would understand what he meant. Within a couple seconds he already got a reply,
"I'm sure he misses you too", a cheeky little smile appeared on Jason's face, he really hoped it was true, he hoped the other boy missed him just as much or even more. His eyes were slowly closing themselves for he had to get up so early in the morning, but he had to do one more thing. "Streaks" - receiver, Naoise Patton. Delivered. Jason was satisfied with this and let himself fall asleep. He woke up in the morning to a snap from his best friend, he was able to guess what it said, "Streak", he was right. He wanted to start some kind of conversation between the two but he didn't know how.. "I miss you", blunt and honest, that's the type of person he was, so why shouldn't his text be?
Delivered 2 hours ago. It was killing him inside, why didn't Naoise open it yet? He kept walking down the streets of London, admiring the beauty of the place, enjoying the company of his friends, he looked down at his phone, opened 13 minutes ago, his stomach tightened, why didn't he answer? Maybe his WiFi went out? He sighed. Maybe something happened? Maybe he replied but it just didn't deliver yet? He was over thinking it. Just drop it.
Jason went on about his day, walking around and checking out some cool attractions, taking pictures of his friend, and Mr. Beattie. Bleep. New snap. Naoise Patton. " I miss you too". Once again a big smile spread across Jason's face. It took so little to make him happy. But him, Jason as a person is... Different. Everyone has more to them right? But Jason, he thinks differently than what he speaks, he keeps more secrets than people would expect him to have, he has a different side to him, he feels its normal though, he feels like everyone's like this, but doesn't realise how special, unique he is. Developing feelings for someone differed so much for him than anyone else. It made things so much more difficult for him, actions he views as normal to shows interest in a person are spotted as unusual by others and often misinterpreted.
....
The whole trip felt unnecessarily long, the desire to meet with his friend was overwhelming. It was Monday night, he was convinced he wasn't going to see his friend until tomorrow morning at school. He was home alone and nothing to so really, his parents were out, his brother with them, he was planning to just chill out and watch a couple movies. His track of thought was interrupted by a rather aggressive series of knocks on the door. Jason unsurely approached the door not knowing who to expect. "Open the door!" The person on the other side shouted, Jason recognised the familiar voice and now rushed to the door and flung it open and his friend burst in. Instantly Jason pulled him into a hug. The hug was long and tight. They pulled away for a moment but awkwardly keeping physical touch between them. Jason took a breathe in about to ask why he was there, but Naoise beat him to it. "Man I went home right, and there was no one there, no keys on me like, I call everyone and no ones picking up, I've no fucking clue what I'm doing now"
