Casey's POV

I entered the halls of the school, smiling at the familiar faces. This is gonna sound lame but I was actually pretty exited to be back at school, it was exactly what I needed, the familiarity of it to distract me from everything that had happened in the summer. I was in senior of high school and if I'm completely honest I wanted to hold onto it for as long as possible, because a week after prom nothing would be the same.

Oomph. I was winded from the impact of the hug from my best friend since kindergarten Amanda. Wrapping my arms around her I inhaled her usual flowery scent, another familiarity.

Pulling back, she tucked her flaming red hair behind her ear before looking at me with concern in her big green eyes. "You doing okay Case?" She asked. I nodded my head before giving her a big smile. A big smile took over her face, she had become used to seeing me so pale over the summer, I was glad to be able to reassure her.

"It's time to put the plan into action, I need to find Jonah Gibbs" I spoke.
Realisation took over her face before she informed me she had seen him outside, I thanked her and promised to meet her at lunch before setting of to find the one person who could offer me help, Blackburn Highs very own bad boy.

Jonahs POV

I stood against the sheds of my school, surveying the groups of people. Inhaling my cigarette my frustration grew at being back at a place full of people I hated. At least this was my last year then I could leave town and never look back, it's not as if I had anyone who I'd miss.

Throwing my cigarette on the ground I stomped in it before looking up, it was at that moment I noticed Casey Jones walking out of the school. Everyone smiled at her or greeted her after all she was Blackburn Highs sweetheart. I despised her, not because of anything she'd done to me but because she had no idea how hard life was, nothing had ever gone wrong in her perfect life. She had perfect grades, a perfect family and perfect looks with long brown hair and bright blue eyes.

Confusion took over my face when I saw her walking towards me, what the fuck did she want from me?
As she finally came to stand before me I noticed her fidgeting with her fingers nervously before seemingly taking a deep breath and looking up. Even I could admit she was gorgeous as I watched her nervously bite her pink lips.

Raising an eyebrow, I finally spoke. "What do you want?"
She released her now red lip before speaking, "Erm hi Jonah, I'm Casey I know we haven't really spoken before but I heard you were good with cars and I really need your help please."
"No, why should I help you, ask one of your supporters or something." I grunted before turning to walk away when suddenly I heard her small voice speak up.
"I'm dying Jonah."
At this I turned around shocked, "You're what?" I gasped
She looked down and began speaking. "I'm dying Jonah, I've got Cancer and they've given me until a week after prom to live, please Jonah I really need your help," When she looked up I could see the unshed tears in her eyes. Just as I was about to respond the bell rang out. She huffed before quickly grabbing a pen and paper, writing on it and shoving it in my hand. "If you change your mind here's my address, you can come over tonight and we can talk more also please don't mention this to anyone." She rushed out before hurrying off to class.

I stood there immobile as one thought crossed my mind, I had judged Casey way too fast, it turns out little miss sunshine has her own problems and they're a lot worse than I could've ever imagined.
