My father, Phillip Tamesis , is the person I wished never ran away. When we use to go to the Mall, and eat at Wendy's. I'd always get a Kids Meal because I loved the interesting toys. My father would take them and make them “come to life.” He'd make the miniature doll become a gorgeous princess of the land Lumarzia, or a small dinosaur figure be a fire breathing dragon. I'd sip my blizzard drink and he'd make me laugh. I never noticed that all the kids there would stare at me. Look at my hands, then my face. Not just the children, the parents, adults, too. He'd see that I'd noticed now, and his smile faded. “Sweetie, want anymore fries?” I'd shake my head, slurping down my drink. He took the tray, threw it out, and grabbed my hand and walked with me to Build-A-Bear, and he made me a dog with a little blue shirt with buttons lining it, and blue jean pants and stuffed a heart that when you squeezed it, it'd say, “I love you” and my dad kissed my cheek. I looked into his eyes, seeing if he had my eyes. Nope. Both light blue.

When we'd gotten home from our adventure, he would carry me inside, me on his shoulders. Mom smiled and kissed dad. “How was it Phil?” “Oh it was great! This little girl wouldn't let go of my arm!” I laughed a child laugh. I squeezed my dog, which I named Danny, and out came “I love you” “I love you too!” I replied, screaming with joy. Dad smiled and once again it faded as mom asked, “Did anything happen?” He then nodded and turned to me. “Amy, sweetie, the dragon of Lumarzia is attacking the princess's castle in Queen Amaya's room! You must go save her with your trusty steed, Danny the magic dog!” I giggled and screamed, “Princess Jasmine, I'll save you!!!” I zipped off, but dropped Danny, but could hear them. Talking. “They stared like she wasn't from here.” “I knew it. All I want her is to be happy...” “I know Jamaza, I know. She will, I promise...” “HOW?!! SURGERY?! TRANSPLANT?!” She starts to cry. “I'm sorry, but...” “Why with Matthew and Veronica did she inherit my things, but with Amaya,... she inherited it from... you?”, she replies, sounding disgusted. My dad is silent. “Jamaza, I love her. Like my daughter! It is not my fault she inherited it from me!” I sat on the cold damp floor. Listening. Squeezing the stuffed animal. It repeated, “I love you”. I screeched. There was silence. Mom walked around the corner of the counter, and tears rolled down her cheeks.”Go to bed my dear Amaya .”

I flopped into bed, waiting for dad to come tuck me in. Thirty minutes, I sat, squeezing my Danny. Then, my wish was granted. He sat on the bed with me, looking depressed. I started. “Where are we... what the heck is goooiiinnnggg on . The dark-...”I sang but he interupted. “Not tonight Amaya.” I frowned. “Goodnight Amaya, I love you like a dog loves it's bone. As a princess loves a rose.” He kissed my forehead and smiled, a tear rolling down his cheek. “Goodnight daddy!” The next morning, I stood in his room. Empty. I went to his closet. His clothes were gone. So was his toothbrush and his pillow. He was gone. I stood there all day. Waiting. Mom was nowhere. Probably went shopping with Veronica and took Matt to soccer practice. Grandma was asleep. Night came. He had not returned. He was gone. Danny let out a “I love you” as I let out a tear.

I love you too.”
