when you love someone, wanting to and having to is the same thing.

The stars shine bright tonight. Looking up from my soft, comfortable bed, the ceiling reflected the sky of the beautiful night. If only there was an escape to all of this.

Pulling me from my thoughts, I hear the knob turning slowly. Opening the door, I see the one person I've been longing to talk to: Blaze.

"Hey." He awkwardly greets, staring at the floor.

Sitting up, I turn to face him. "Hey." I return, not really knowing what to say.

After a long period of silence, Blaze suddenly spoke, "This is probably the stupidest thing you've ever done, you know that?"

"I did it for you." I looked down, slightly embarassed.

"I DIDN'T WANT YOU TO!" Face getting red, his eyes flaring, I saw a side of him I rarely see. Taken aback, although knowing how stubborn he is.

Standing up and walking toward him, "I dont care. You're the reason. I can't let you die." Scrambling for the correct answer, I realized I didn't have one. I controlled my voice, trying not to scream out all my anger.

Almost lowering my voice to a whisper, "You're the only hope alive." That seemed like the only sane answer. To be honest, I had no idea why I did it. All i knew was it was the right thing to do.

Taking a step away from me, Blaze says "You're the only hope for me. If you die, there's no point in me living anymore."

"That's a risk I'm willing to take."

"I'm not letting you die for me." Blaze says slowly but surely, making sure I hear every word. His eyes darken, seriousness clouding it.

With all the strength I could manage, "Whatever it takes."

Long hours has passed during the quiet, smooth train ride. Sitting in my usual spot at the back of the train, I can't stop thinking about how much my life has changed during the past few days. Three days ago, I was a regular girl from District 12 with a family to look after. Now, I'm a girl that's willing to kill anyone, in order for her boyfriend to live. Even if that means me dying in the process.

"Skey. Earth to Skey." All of a sudden, I see Ezourry's hand waving over my  face trying to capture my attention.

"W-what?" I answer shaking my head, regaining consciousness.

"Okay, look. I know we got off on the wrong foot yesterday, but I am still your mentor." Ezourry says, with a straight face, reminding me the reason she's here.

Not knowing what to say, she continues "I'm sorry about your dad, I really am." Through clenched teeth, she manages "I'm sorry."

Giving her a small smile, I accept her apology. "I need to ask something of you."

"Shoot." Ezourry asks curiously, sitting up striaghter on the white couch.

"The only reason I'm in this mess, is for Blaze. He needs to live. You need to help me, make sure he wins." I say without hesitation.

"And why would I do that?"

"Because he's the prospect in this horrible society." Simply, I say with care. Understanding, Ezourry lifts her eyebrow, as if she was realizing something.

"You do know that mean you're going to have to die, right?"

"I know." Brushing it off, not wanting to think about that yet. "You have to promise. Teach me how to protect him. Teach us how to survive." Completely serious, I ask for something easier to say then be done.

Hesitating, Ezourry nods and says "I promise."

*Blaze's POV:*

"Whatever it takes."

As I pace in my room, I couldn't help the thoughts racing to my head. I couldn't help to even think about the possibility that Skey might die; because of me. It's overwhelming, confusing, and heart-breaking all at the same time.

Her voice runs through my mind, over and over. I'm starting to believe that she's willing to die at my wake.

Walking away from my room, I decide to go look for Skey. We need to talk about what we're going to do about this, about this huge mess.

As I'm about to open the door, I overhear voices: Ezourry and Skey.

"I need to ask something of you."

"Shoot."

"The only reason I'm in this mess, is for Blaze. You need to help me, make sure he wins. He's the prospect in this horrible society."

Taking my ear off the door, I walk away quickly making sure no one saw me eavesdropping. So, that's her plan. That's the reason she's going through all of this, sacrificing so much, for me.

What she doesn't know is, I'm not going to let that happen. She's my everything. Without her, I'm nothing.
