Chapter 2

Christies POV (during dinner with David)

“ David what happened to me before I came here?”

David looked at me deciding if he wants to tell me or not.” Well,” he starts to answer.

“ This is going to seem to be a big shock to you.” David paused to put our dishes in the dishwasher then continued to tell his story.

“ First of all, Christie I’m a vampire.” David paused to give me some time to think. “Vampire? That’s impossible!” I looked at the table when saying this, not wanting to see Davids reaction. I looked at him from under my eye lashes. He reached his hand out to my chin and pulled my chin up compelling me to look at him.

“ Christie it’s fine. No need to be ashamed.” I looked in his eyes and saw kindness.

“ So,” David continued.” Two nights ago you showed up at my house, bleeding to death because you were bitten by a vampire. He was trying to turn you. But, I saved you by sucking out the venom and giving you my blood.” He paused looking for my reaction. Instinctively I reached my hand up to my neck feeling two scars right on my jugular vein. I looked at him and he smiled sheepishly. Before he stopped smiling I caught a glimpse of his fangs. I gasped.

“ Y-y-your fangs! How did I not notice them before?” I gasped.

“ I can retract them so they look like normal human canines.”

“ Oh, what else can vampires do?”

“ Well,” David explained.” Vampires can run really fast, we have super strength, we have great vision, and some of us have supernatural powers other than the ones we already have.” Then David got this mischievous grin on his face.

“ Oh no,” My eyes widened as I tried to run but David caught me, putting me on his back for a piggy back ride and said,” I’m going to show you what I can do.”

“David put me down!”

David laughed, “Nope!”

Before I knew it we were outside and David was running with vampiric speed.

“ Whoa!” I breathed.

“ How are you not getting tired?” I asked David. He was running so fast but his breathing was coming out slow and steady.

“ Vampires don’t need to breathe as much as humans do but we still need to breathe.”

“Do you guys have beating hearts?”

David stopped abruptly and bent down so I could get off his back. He grabbed my hand so I could face him, then put my hand over where his heart was supposed to be. I felt a very light heart beat. If I wasn’t looking for it I probably wouldn’t have felt it.

“ Vampires have hearts that beat but our blood only keeps our skin color looking normal. And sometimes we use it to heal humans.”

“Oh.”

I then realized that my hand was still on his chest and quickly pulled it away, blushing. I looked up at David to see that he was suppressing a laugh.

“ David! Why are you laughing at me?!?!” I punched him on the arm and that only made him laugh harder.

“David!!” I whined, very much annoyed. David was still laughing at me so I stalked off into the forest.
