It is 10 years after Gru adopted his three girls.
Margo was already going off, and wed to a man named Aaron Marx, a successful man who aids people in need of synthetics.
Agnes was still in school, as happy as can be, wanting to be like her adopted mother, Lucy Wilde Gru.
Edith, though, was 18, reckless as always, and wished to be a villain, which caused Gru to worry.

The characters:
Margo Gru Marx: age 22, already moved out & married to Aaron. She is 3 months pregnant. She is still protective & supportive of her siblings.
Edith Gru: 18, just graduated, wanting to be a villain like Gru. At 17, she pushed Agnes out of the road & onto the sidewalk before a drunk driver could hit her, but instead she's the one who gets injured. She now has a synthetic spine, one with a faint pink glow.
Agnes Gru: 16, Junior. She is still innocent & happy. She hasnt changed to much, other than her likes & dislikes.
Lucy Wilde Gru: wife of Gru. She's random, carefree, but very loving. She supports her girls' & husband.
Gru: Not much has changed about him other than his age. He starts to notice the girls' growing up, & it starts to slowly upset him.
Titus: Edith's love interest. They meet in an odd spot, causing Edith to worry. Soon after they start to date.
Aaron Marx: Margo's husband and the man who gave Edith her synthetic spine. He is doing his best to advance technology. Edith calls him "the real life Tony Stark, despite the playboy stuff."
Alexandra "Alex" Warren: Edith's best friend. She's the opposite of Edith, but she acts a lot like her, almost like she was her twin. She is two months older than Edith.
Mira: Edith's friend. Little is known other than she is 20, & has a boyfriend. She is quiet but loving. She is also shy, & distant with strangers.
Sagea: Edith's 3rd friend. She's wild, crazy, and hyper. She is also Indian. She is 19.
