I was laying down on straw bedding. The ceiling spiralled upwards in a cone shape. The other platform for the boys was below me. Nobody else was in the trullo except me. Everybody else went to hang out at the bonfire with the shape-shifters. I needed some solitude to contemplate everything I just heard. Krystahffer walked through the door.

"Hey Dieannah, why don't you come outside with us?" he asked. I rolled over to look at him. He stood out against the pale blank walls.

"Just thinking," I replied. Krystahffer shrugged. He jumped up to the platform I was laying down on. It shook when he landed.

"Do you really think you're ugly Dieannah?" he asked. It was quite an odd question. What was he trying to get at?

"Yeah sure. I mean, who has natural blue hair?" I asked.

"I like it," Krystahffer chuckled. I could feel my face turn pink however; it was unusual for Krystahffer to bring up a topic like that.

"You know, Bodenn is thinking about asking out Ke'rahnda." I shrugged. The topic didn't interest me.

"I feel kind of left out on all the action."

"What action?" I inquired. Krystahffer laid down next to me.

"Even Maesyn's got a crush," Krystahffer sighed.

"And who might that be?" I asked out of curiosity even though it must have been Ke'rahnda.

"I'm not allowed to tell," he replied. I somehow felt like he was lying. We stared at the ceiling in silence for a few moments.

"So why did you come in here exactly?" I asked him.

"Well since you asked..." Krystahffer began. He sighed.

"You're different from everybody else Dieannah. That's why I like you." My face must have been glowing red by then. "You know, I'm like seven years older than you. Not like it really matters but, do you think it could work?"

"What do you mean?" I inquired. Krystahffer laughed.

"You know, do you think we could be a couple." I nearly passed out.

"A WHAT!?" I yelled. Where did that come from? It wasn't like Krystahffer thought of that before. He laughed quite oddly. I eyed him suspiciously. My hand instinctively reached for the sword still on my back.

"Dieannah, do you distrust me?" Krystahffer asked, gesturing at my grip on the hilt of my knife.

"No, no... I just got an itch on my back," I lied.

"Good," Krystahffer sighed. We looked at each other in the eyes. I felt like it was a dream come true but, it was still unexpected.

Suddenly, Krystahffer sat up. He leaned forward. What was he doing? My face was burning up. He closed his eyes. My forearms began to sting and burn at the same time. Was it Andromeda?Krystahffer kissed me. I closed my eyes. My pulse beat loudly in my ears. My chest was burning like a comet. My heart was in paradise however; my forearms were in agony. I felt a strange energy course through my body. A fiery sensation rocketed through my bones. I screamed as a wave of energy blasted out my muscles. The straw I was sitting on caught on fire. Krystahffer was repelled off me. He flew into the wall onto the other side of the room. A wave of fatigue passed over me. I could barely move.

"The damn telepaths inscribed a selfdefense mechanism," Krystahffer wheezed. He slowly morphed into Steeljaw.

"Steel...jaw..?" I managed to say. I was breathing heavily. What had just happened?

"I see your galaxy is taking a turn on you. Only a telepath could truly master its strength," Steeljaw laughed.

"Wh-wh-wh...wh..." I tried to ask. Steeljaw laughed.
