"Run away with me." The words hang in the air, silence between us. "You don't have to..." He's going backwards, afraid of rejection. "It was stupid." He flops back down on the grass. "Sorry." 

I don't really know what to say. 

"Maybe it's not such a bad idea..." I stutter. He sits up, looking shocked. "I mean, you just got a car and this town sucks ass anyway. It's not like we'd be missing anything really." Now it's Luke's turn to be silent. "You could take your guitar and we could finally be free from all this bullshit." I pause for a second. "What about school?"

"You don't even go most of the time, and I'm failing at least half my classes." He smiles shyly, a Luke-ish smile with a small laugh. "C'mon. It'll be fun. Just you and me, in the pick up truck driving for ever and ever." He tickles my sides, making me squeal. "Baby please." He whispers into my ear, giving me goosebumps. He's playing, trying to get what he wants, and it's working. "Good music, cheap pizza and the endless highway." He lets go of my sides and lays back on the hill, hands behind his head, grinning at me. I shake my head, laughing, and lie next to him, cuddling up to his sweater. 

I take a deep breath. "I love you."

"Is that a yes?" I nod into his chest.

"Sure, it's worth a risk and I've got money from working and you've got the truck so why not?" He smiles, a huge grin that lights up his whole face, and leans over to kiss me.

"You won't regret it." He kisses me again. "I love you." 

"Okay, okay." I whine. "Get off me you massive idiot." He pouts, faking hurt and I kiss him quickly before getting up and running down the hill screaming, "Catch me if you can!" and laughing. He runs after me, grabbing me by the waste and spinning me around. He grins and laughs, truly happy.
