School of Lava

It was a cold Octobers Morning, Lee was rushing,  being 20 minutes  late already he didn't want to be any later for the next bus. He raced toward the bus stop making it just in time to board the bus. He paid for his ticket and sat down near the back of the bus. As he arrived in school only 2 minuets before the screeching sound of the bell was heard, he sighed with relief. He sat down  where his friend Erin was waiting for him. "Where were you! I was waiting for ages" Erin explained looking puzzled. " I'm sorry I woke up late "  Lee mumbled.

The day was normal like any other until lunch time. Lee and Erin sat on the bench in the yard watching the other students play football without any rules, They both laughed at the arguments and shouting they could see from the students. All of a sudden a wailing noise louder than any alarm they have ever heard could be heard. When the alarm stopped People crowded at the school fence, Lee and Erin joined into this crowd  Somehow after a few minutes of being crushed they found there way to the front of the crowed there they both saw military officials entering through the main entrance. A few minutes later 5 teachers and a military official came onto the yard and told us all to make our ways into the hall immediately. This had never happened before and everyone was confused. Every single student piled into the hall Everyone talking among themselves, military officials and the head teacher  stood at the front. Suddenly one of the military officials spoke. "SILENCE EVERYONE" he said in a bellowing voice. Everyone went quiet , even the bad kids went quiet. " We have reason to believe this town has become unsafe, so were taking it in shifts we going to take everyone younger than 16 and come back for everyone older" he Explained. Someone shouted "What about our family" the military official explained that everyone's family are doing the same thing as they are.

Everyone walked towards the exit and towards the trucks the military came in Lee looked at Erin in disbelief he knew they lived in the shadow of a volcano but he didn't know it was active. They both boarded a truck and within 10 minutes the truck was full of students. As they departed from the school they looked to the hill, smoke was slowly seeping out of the volcano everybody stared at the volcano apart from a small year 7. Lee and Erin realised that the little girl was upset they sat by her and comforted her until she felt better. Around 20 minutes later Erin Looked back at the volcano this time the sky above the volcano was thick black with smoke. Erin shook Lee and shouted at him to look at the volcano again. Lee glanced at the volcano and his jaw dropped The government official told everyone to calm down and the year 7 girl started crying. Lee and Erin sat down while everyone stared at the volcano they felt a shudder then a jolt there truck flipped and everyone fell to a side where most of them were knocked out from the flip and the others from the impact from the flip

Lee woke up to pain his hand had been twisted and blood was trickling from his head. He desperately looked for Erin after a few seconds of frantically looking he saw her She had a gash to the head and a cut on her leg. He shook Erin till the point where she woke up. She was confused until she realised what had happened she got up and saw all the people lying there they tried shaking them but unfortunately non of them woke up. Lee and Erin opened up the back of the truck and hopped out. they realised why they crashed, the road was barley recognisable they looked towards the volcano to see an apocalyptic scene. Dark clouds, Red lava , Ash, and dead body's  everywhere. They were both horrified. Lee and Erin ran the opposite direction of the volcano they diddnt know what to do coming up was a gass station they both ran inside and shut the doors."What are we going to do!" Erin Cried, Lee looked for some food, luckily for lee and erin not many people knew what was going to happen and therefore diddnt rob the shop. Lee crammed foods and drinks into his school bag untill it was full he also picked up 2 large  plasters one for him and one for Erin. While looking around he found a few spray paint mouth and nose protecters he passed on to Erin and put it on While Erin put her mask on she began looking out of the window she saw two bikes just left there.

Lee and Erin slowly crept out of the door to where the bikes stood, these bikes hadn't been chained to the post which they were both glad about. Lee and Erin didn't hesitate they both jumped onto the bike and rode off away from the volcano and away from the ash filled town. As they travelled alongside the disfiguring road trying to find any sign of life , there wasn't instead , a small torrent  of lava speedily rushed down the side of the road Lee and Erin  rushed towards the torrent and just escaped the flow if seconds to spare after a few miles of bike riding the volcano was barley visible just a trickle of smoke was able to bee seen. Lee and Erin carried on bike rising until they saw a few tents those tens became bigger the closer they got then they saw some make shift building and people! "PEOPLE" Erin shrieked with excitement,  They arrived at the Camp where a military official found them he took them to the data office where they answered some questions about who they are and who there family was. A few minutes later the man came in with Erin's mother father and brother and came in with Lees Mother and 3 sisters they all hugged where Lee and Erin started crying they both knew that from now on they were safe. Many years past but Lee and Erin will never forget the story of there survival and they now know to never live anywhere near to a volcano again.
