You got out of Andy’s car with a high level of reluctance. The scent of the afternoon air differed so much from the warm, inviting scent of vehicle that you almost wanted to just crawl back in and lose yourself in the aroma. You decided against that immediately, however, because you actually liked him, and you didn’t want to frighten him.

You walked up to your front door, and turned around to see Andy backing out of the driveway. You smiled softly and waved at him as he was pulling away, feeling a warmth in your chest as he smiled broadly and waved back with the hand that had a newly-lit cigarette in it - even from this distance, you could see his bright eyes sparkling.

And your heart danced.

You stayed on the stoop of your front porch until the black vehicle was out of sight, and the low thud of his music dissipated completely. Sighing, you walked into your house and closed the door behind you. Your parents weren’t home yet, so you just made your way up to your room and sat down on the edge of your bed, running your hand through your hair.

As you did this, you could smell the faint scent of smoke on your sleeve. Thankful that you did, you pulled it off - having a simple t-shirt on underneath - a flock of doves flying across a plain black backround. You’d always loved this shirt…it was a shame that your arms were plastered in lines of every tone of pink and red. You sighed and put your sweatshirt under your bed, inhaling the scent once more before hiding it. You smiled to yourself as you got up to grab a new shirt, sweatshirt, pair of jeans, and undergarments.

If your sweatshirt smelled like smoke, then surely the rest of you did, too. You sighed and made your way into the bathroom, stashing your clothes underneath of the sink as you undressed and quickly slipped into the shower. Turning the water on, you stepped in and closed the door.

As the warm water ran down your skin, and through your hair, your mind continued to wander back to what had just happened. Was I just imagining him..? You thought to yourself, starting to shampoo your hair.

You couldn’t quite grasp that you had a kind-of friend. You only say kind-of because, well, you’ve only known him for one day. You were optimistic, however…You had a good feeling about him.

Rinsing the shampoo from your hair, you were careful to not get the soap on your arm. That always burned more than you’d like it to. You sighed softly as you shut off the water, grabbing a towel that you’d placed across the top of the shower door and wrapping it around yourself as you stepped out.

You got dressed quickly, wrapping the towel around your wet hair as you walked back to your room - grabbing the other clothes along the way. You slid those under your bed along with your sweatshirt and then smiled to yourself, sitting down.

A few moments had passed, and you heard a buzzing sound. You jumped slightly before you realized that it was just your cellphone. You weren’t used to the sound, as you hadn’t really received any messages. Ever.

Picking it up, you clicked the ‘open’ button on your new message.

:: Hey there, Evelyn. It’s Andy.

You felt a - probably dorky - smile make it’s way across your face as you texted the number back,

:: Oh, hey! How are you?

After you sent your message, you saved his number into your phone, taking the towel off of your head - hair now damp, but dry enough to not get your shirt wet.

Walking to the bathroom, you hung the towel over the door again, to let it dry, and made your way back to your room. You sighed softly as you sat down, awaiting a text from Andy.
