Chapter 4
Megara’s spirits were up; she was full, she’d had a wonderful night’s sleep and she had a gorgeous woman with her. The only down side was that she couldn’t get her mind off the Protector, this wouldn’t have been a problem if she wasn’t completely paranoid that something would get through their link. Trying to change the topic within her own mind she thought more about what they would do about…
“Do you think it should have a name? I was thinking Moron would work…” Megara knew she was babbling but the Punisher would need to get used to it if they were going to be spending time together.
The other woman looked up, a small frown of confusion showing on her face, Name what? What are you talking about now?
“The previous punisher of course, I don’t know what to call it, we can’t just call it the Thing can we?” Megara tucked her hair behind her ear and found her gaze wondering over the Punisher’s body; she was such a pervert.
The Punisher felt a smile twitch on the corners of her mouth before she controlled herself, Why not; it is just a Thing isn’t it?
The Punisher wasn’t sure what Megara was doing or why she kept staring. Gathering herself she looked into the gold of Megara’s eyes and continued, We should probably start trying to find it, or try something at least.
“Yes, I guess we could call it the Thing. Well, we know it is no longer in Hades and that’s about all we know.” Megara was completely fascinated with the Punisher’s eyes; no one had affected her like this before and she couldn’t help but like it. Winking at the Punisher she found she was not the only one who enjoyed the other woman’s shocked face; her cyto-griffin yip in approval. With a smirk she continued, “Do you have any ideas?”
The Punisher stood at stared with a completely lost expression, she had no idea what was happening. Falling back into more familiar territory she replied, Why don’t we speak to the demons? They brought it back, they would be the ones who have seen it last.
Megara’s spine stiffened at the thought of returning to Hades, she knew the demons that had seen him last and she had a feeling they wouldn’t want to talk to her. Looking at the Punisher with guilty eyes she said quietly, “I did hear something last night but I completely forgot about it.” Because I had you wrapped around me all of yesterday, she thought to herself.
Quirking one brow the Punisher looked at the woman in front of her carefully, Last night? When would you have found this out? She didn’t like the guilty look on Megara’s face and had a feeling that she might not want to know.
“I might have, possibly, perchance, maybe, perhaps have gone to the underworld with my subconscious last night.” Megara didn’t really want to talk about this, she herself didn’t know why she had become so angry when she the Punisher in the throes of a nightmare, she could blame it on being protective but she knew it wasn’t that alone. The Punisher gestured for her to continue and she almost winced, “I went to the dream demons and they say that, well, the reason for your nightmares is because the Thing kept taking their powers and it is the one that haunts you.”
Megara stared just left of the Punisher’s feet, not wanting to see this reaction, while her beast hid its head under its paws and waited, whining softly.
The Punisher could have sworn she had heard incorrectly; no one ventured into Hades unless they had to. Then she also found this new information on the Thing hard to process, so many questions came to mind; why was it attacking her and not Megara, why did Megara know this information specifically unless…
You went down there for me, her voice was shocked, even through the mind link and she watched as Megara shifted from one foot to the other in a display of unease. It was strange seeing her like this, from what she had seen before she had expected nothing to faze the other woman.
