Mushy bit is now here!

Laura's POV

Leo landed on top of me.

It hurt.

He managed to twist both my ankles, so I was virtually helpless.

"Ummm....." I started. "Can you get off my extremely painfully twisted ankles?"

Leo jumped about a mile. "Sure! Sorry! I didn't realise I'd hurt you!" He looked at our surroundings. "We're stuck here in the middle of a forest, both of us injured and we have no idea where the ship is. D'you think we could get to that tree over there?" He pointed to a stunted oak, huge branches crawling with vines. He stopped and stared at something lying on the ground. It was a shard of bronze, twisted and battered until it was little more than a thread.

"The Argo," I breathed, recognising the metal as the specially made bronze for the Argo that Leo had made a long time ago.

That would have been right about when the monsters rushed in.

~

Two sprained ankles and fifty bruises (Yeah, I counted) generally make things a LITTLE bit difficult when in a life-threatening situation. For one thing, you can't actually walk; for another, the pain in your legs and wherever else the bruises are ruins your concentration; and lastly, if you're left-handed, you're screwed. Fortunately, I am not left handed, but even so, I couldn't exactly fight the monsters unless they were kind enough to jump on me. Which they weren't. And 'they' were:

-Ten hellhounds

- Fifteen draecenae

- Eleven sphinxes

- Twenty things (OMG TWENTY THINGS ANNA I AM DYING :'D - Laura)

And just to top it all off, the Minotaur.

~

Bull-head mooed at us and charged straight at Leo. Bad idea. Leo set his hand on fire and jumped over the Minotaur's head, grabbing on to its horns and setting fire to its head.

Meanwhile, the things were 'sneaking' around behind us, and I couldn't get them due to the excruciating pain that occured every time my legs shifted.

And I just KNOW that you're all scratching your heads and going 'what on Earth are these things?', so I'll enlighten you. They were somewhere in between a cow, lizard, fire-breathing komodo dragon and the Cookie Monster. No, serious. Head: bull's head, blue fur (Cookie Monster); Body: Scaly; Legs/feet: Blue (Cookie Monster).

"Leo! Some help?"

He turned the Minotaur in the direction of the attacking bulikocomo (What! Bu: bull, li: lizard, ko: komodo dragon, como: Cookie Monster! It's a good name!) and it charged into the front line. Naturally it set them on fire.

Genius, Leo, absolute genius.

He jumped off the disintegrating Minotaur and walked over to me.

"Thanks," I said. Leo shrugged.

"No problem. I didn't exactly want you to turn into a monster chew toy..."

I smiled. There was a slightly awkward silence.

"Uh, Laura? Can I ask you something?" Leo finally said. I nodded.

"Sure."

Leo took a deep breath. Just as he was about to speak, I shoved him to the ground.

Leo's POV

"Get the hell down!"

I hit the ground hard, wondering why Laura had pushed me over. Was it something I said? Something I was going to say?

I heard a swift cutting sound and suddenly monster dust was stirring in a pile next to me, Laura standing above with her sword at her side.

"Take that you ugly bulikocomo!" she exclaimed. Suddenly, there was a resounding hiss, and a dozen of the 'things' from earlier surrounded us. I guessed they were the bulikocomos she had mentioned.

"Oh no," Laura said in an exasperated tone. "Are you kidding me?"

About ten or twelve bulikicomos surrounded us. I groaned.

"I thought they were all gone!" I complained as I pulled out a hammer.

"Me too." Laura said angrily, slashing through one of the monsters. I turned and stood back-to-back with her, facing the circle of monsters around us. We slashed and fought against them, until finally we thought that there were dead.

"Well that was suspiciously easy." Laura mused, as we turned to face each other. Suddenly her eyes widened.

"Get the hell down again!" she screeched, and I ducked without question. I didn't want her to tackled me again with her creepy strength. Her sword whirled in a large arc above my head and three bulikocomos turned to dust.

Before I could warn her, three more of the things (where the Hades were they coming from?) were behind her. I jumped up just as she span back around and beheaded the rest of them, slipping on the dust and falling back. I yelped in surprise and we stumbled back, thanks to the monster dust acting as a lubricant. Just before she cracked her head open on a tree root, I slipped a hand under her shoulders and she jolted to a halt, inches from the ground.

Unusually smooth for me, I thought.

"Whew, thanks," she said, blowing some stray hairs off of her face.

"Oh, yeah," I said awkwardly, pulling her up. "Don't mention it."

She grinned, and took a tiny step closer. "I dunno. I kinda like my brain." She grabbed the collar of my shirt and pulled me in, pressing her lips to mine. I probably smelled like smoke and tasted like monster dust, but she didn't seem to care, wrapping her arms around my neck and smiling.

It was perfect.

She broke away, biting her lip. "If you'd let my brain smash, that wouldn't have happened anyway."

I smiled, pulling her close again. "I also like your brain."

She smiled, getting up on her tip-toes and wrapping her arms around my neck. I could feel her breath on my lips. "Amen."
