he was sitting alone, digging into an apple. she was just looking at him, noticing how funny he looked when he chewed. "someone's got eye candy." one of her friends sung.
she turned away suddenly, her food becoming a priority. "do you want him?" another asked.
she didn't answer but her friends didn't mind.
"he's hot, you know."
"always keeps the want to herself, she'll never get a boyfriend that way."
"i heard he was whispering sweet nothings to you earlier."
"if i were you, i'd tap that. no question."
she was fed up and that wasn't something she could hide beneath all the makeup. "shut it!" she yelled, her hand slamming against the table.
and there came another aching silence in the cafeteria.
her friends were shocked. everyone was. she was losing it recently and she knew that. she stormed out of the cafeteria, shutting the door behind her.
he stared.
