Dusk t'il Dawn... it's That Simple

Chapter 1

"Come on guys... we're going to miss out on exploring this dump the longer you take" I said carrying half of all the luggage on my back.

"Congratulations Daina, you resorted to bringing only 3 bags!"  Ryan commented.

"WHAT?!? I thought I packed and  brought 9!" Daina exploded.

"Ryan!" Luke eyed him down yelling at him in a whisper clearly everyone heard.

"You got rid of my make up luggage!? What kind of a boyfriend are you Luke?!"

I flinched at her comment as I quickly covered it up again before Luke sent me a glance, then I placed a smirk - playfully - on my lips as Daina jumped on him in an apologetic way.

I'd liked Luke since we first met and now he's dating my best friend. Either way, my smirk still playing on my lips, we all brought our stuff into our pile of a rental house.

"Come on Jaden, you know he likes you more than her" Megan attempted to reassure me seeing as my 'playing cover up' had failed.

"Yeah, yeah, I know, but it would be awkward... I wouldn't allow him to just dump her for me. Besides, she's our friend."

Megan smiled, in defeat and left to Ryan, who pecked her on the cheek. Our other 'friends' hadn't arrived yet so, being the good friend I am, I gave them a call and they simply answered with an, 'Oh yeah, we're not coming anymore! Bye!'.  But don't worry, we still feel loved. Gag.

Once we got settled in, we all went into our rooms and had time to think. Of course, Luke and Daina went to go share a room as well as Ryan and Megan even after our 'friends' had canceled leaving a number of rooms free. As for me, I had a whole room to myself... yay.

"Knock, knock! Can I come in?" Luke asked entering anyway and and laid down on my bed.

"Luke I can't handle it. Why did you go with her even when you liked me and I liked you back?"

"I know, I know... but I told you, she.. I mean... you know the way she is," he sat up rubbing the back of his neck as if worried to tell me again why he was with my best friend when he really liked me, "we just have to wait a few more days until she moves to Hollywood and then we can have our happily ever after", he reassured me pulling me close as he held himself on top of me, our faces an inch away from contact.

"Stop it Luke... I couldn't do that to Daina. She's still my friend."

"Even though she stole your should be 'boyfriend'?" He cons me. But I just pulled away and opened the door gesturing for him to leave when my window shot open. My head instantly snapped towards its direction as Luke moved closer to it, shielding me. I pushed him aside shakily and moved in closer myself.

The only thing there was a limb , disappearing into the trees as my window shut itself closed, barely missing my nose.

"HOLY-" Luke ended himself mid-sentence as Megan came in.

"Pardon Luke? Were you going to say something?" Megan interrupted.

"No..." Luke retorted slightly.

"Good, then we don't have anything to worry about. Isn't that right little bro?" She teased extending her last words with a smirk smeared on her face as she left the room.

Just then Ryan came in, "Well, well, well... looks like we're going to enjoy ourselves aren't we?" He spun on his heel and left us in the room alone when I realized his absence had brought some mysterious substance with him.
