(Rose POV)
I work in a law firm. Yeah boring, I know but at least it pays. I work at Shermen & Buzz Co. Yeah its not the best job in the world, but its were I meet my best friend Terry. She had been working at the law firm for two years before I joined the company.
"Omg, did you hear about George Walkermen? He totally hooked up with the new secretary from downstairs."
I had no idea who George Walkermen or this secretary was. All I knew was that this was the buzz of the office. Terry always knows whats in and whats out. She is always in on the latest gossip and who hooked up with who or what the latest fashion trend was. Me? Well i couldn't care less to be honest, but she happened to work near me so I decided to try to strike up a conversation with her and well, the rest is history.
"No, I had no idea." I simply stated, trying to brush Terry's comment off, continuing to type on my keyboard trying to give her the hint i was not in the mood to talk. Today had not been the best of days. To start things off, I woke up late which meant my schedule had been messed up which resulting in me missing the train which resulted on me spilling coffee onto my shirt after i tried to run down the steps trying not to miss my train. So now i was stuck with a coffee stain the size of Texas on my shirt. Okay maybe it wasn't that bad but from my perspective it was huge.
"-and then Brad said he didn't even think my dog liked the sweater because, hey! Are you even listening to me?"
"Oh yeah, sorry I was just-" Suddenly this sharp pain bolted through my brain as if I had gotten hit in the face with a lightning bolt. I grabbed my throbbing head and told Terry I just needed a breath of fresh air and walked over to the balcony which was conveniently placed a few feet from my desk. I don't think she noticed I had even left because she started talking again.
Luckily this balcony was the only one with a tinted window so no one could see who was on it.
I tried to breath in and out just like my therapist had told me to do when I first got the headaches. I started getting them when I was around 10. This one in particular was one of the worse ones. It got worse so I decieded that it was best for me to go home. I went to my bosses office and told him I was taking the rest of the day off.
When i got back to my cubicle to collect my things, Terry was still talking. I interrupted her to tell her I was going home.
"Well feel better then." She said before putting in her headphones and turning around to face her computer to get back to work. I think that was the quietest I had ever heard Terry be.
My head conveniently decided to throb after rush hour, so I had no problem walking to the subway which was just 2 blocks away from the office. I boarded the train and took the seat closest to the door. It was just me and one other passenger on the train. The other passenger had light blue hair that went down to her butt and she was wearing clothes that, in my opinion, looked like she had went to hell and back with them on.
We soon reached my stop and I got off and walked to my building with the strange feeling I was being followed. I shook off the feeling and arrived at my apartment. It was an okay apartment. One bedroom, a bathroom, kitchen, living room, and a study room which all had the same exact ugly looking cream colored wallpaper which was peeling and had definitely seen better days.
My Doberman, Remi, started to bark. "Calm down Remi, Its only me", I said petting him with one hand while putting my purse down on the table next to the door. My head was still killing me so I went to my room to try to lie down and sleep. Remi jumped up onto my bed and tried to curl up next to me. As I was just about to drift off, a voice spoke, "You should return your dog, Its a bad guard dog. It let me get in."
What the hell?" I said, immediately sitting up, startled by the person in my room. " How did you get in here?"
"I came through the door, same as you, Rose" She said, hopping off my window sill and walking towards me.
"That hair, I know that hair." I said, trying to figure out where I knew that hair from.
"Well, apparently its very popular to have dyed hair now a days, but its kinda natural so..."
"Wait, what do you mean 'kinda' natural, no one has natural blue hai- Omg its YOU!! FROM THE TRAIN!!Why did you follow me home? Are you going to try to kidnap me? Is this about the pen I took that was on the floor of the office? Look I had the intention of returning it but I never-"
Suddenly their was a finger on my lips which caused me to grow silent. "Shhh. We cant talk here. I've already said to much. We need to leave before-"
I heard a loud crash followed by footsteps which sounded like they were coming from the kitchen.
"Shit." she said, looking around frantically, trying to find something of which I wasn't sure of. She looked at me with worry on her face."Do you trust me?" she suddenly asked which caught me off surprise.
"Isn't that something that most people say when they are about to do something dangerous?" I asked, instantly regretting my choice of words.
"Yes or no?" she asked, while the sound of footsteps got louder and closer.
I raised an eyebrow and said a word that would soon change my life forever. "Yes?"
