"BLAIR!!!!" I jumped and fell out of bed. Again. My elbow collided with the bedside table, and I yelped. I looked around the room with sleepy, blurred vision and saw an outline of Raven at the door. "Clumsy much? Anyways get ready we gotta go soon if we're going shopping for school clothes."

"Mmmm." It was all I could say while I forced myself up off the ground. I stumbled my way past my cousin, down the hall, and into the bathroom. I pulled my toothbrush out of the baggie I left in here last night and poured the toothpaste on it, beginning to brush my teeth.

"So what happened last night?" Raven whispered from the bathroom door. I spat out the toothpaste and rinsed out my mouth with water.

"Nothing happened. Like I already said we talked."

"I know what you said last night. I was just making sure you stick true to that story." Raven glanced down the hall and shrugged. Nanna must be coming.

"Y'all girls ready?" Nanna asked, peering in the doorway.

"Not really," I said glancing down at my clothes, and in the mirror. My hair was curled in perfect ringlets for once. I brushed through them and ran back to Raven's room.

"Hurry up," Nanna called. I was already pulling my clothes out of my bag and tossing them on. I slipped my flip-flops on and rushed out the room.

"I'm ready," I said when I turned the corner.

"Then let's go." Nanna got up out of her chair and headed for the door, purse in hand.

The ride to the mall wasn't particularly exciting. It was like all rides with two teens and their grandmother: filled with silence but loud because of iPods.

Raven and I headed for another store when Nanna said, "Go ahead. I'm going to be at the shoe store."

"So are you and Lyle gonna be friends or what?" Raven whispered through a clothes rack. I contemplated. He said we shouldn't talk, so I assume that meant never speaking a word to each other. I shook my head. "But why?"

            "I don't know. I can't read minds. . ." I paused. Maybe I could read his mind. I didn't know. I was probably just momentarily crazy.

"Well, it’s summertime, you and I are going to find some guys. It's going to be our senior year! Class of 2012!" Raven danced around the clothes rack.

"You tard. You're embarrassing me." I rushed away acting like I didn't know her, but laughing when she stumbled over to me looking hurt.

Raven stopped smiling and became solemn. "Look. It's those girls that graduated last year. The ones you and your friend almost got in a fight with."

I glared at them. They thought they were better than everyone else and that a particular seat at lunch was theirs. But they weren't normal seniors. No they were idiots who actually gave up the opportunity to leave school for lunch and hang around to eat school lunch. Gross!

"Oh, hey Blair and Raven." The "leader" of the group called.

Raven shot her a bird with an evil glare, but I shot them a bird with a smile and continued on.

"I don't think so!" Her and her posse started marching after us. Raven and I glanced at each other. We were not about to waste our time fighting with those girls and get arrested. Immediately we began running, more like power walking, through the store. "Hurry and catch those wimps!!"
