Chapter one

#Ace (Note:Thats him above"the serious guy)

I slowly open my eyes allowing them to adjust to the amount of light entering. I let our a loud growl and notice my twin sister Jace sleeping. Slowly I walk to my calender and cross out yesterday as I do so I notice the today is our first day of school.

I run into the shower and open the warm water and a sigh ascapes my lips as the dropes of water crash onto me. I finish bathing and wear my gray Nikes with white socks and brown pants with a white shirt on covered by a brown sweater.

"Jace get up or we are going to be late," I say yanking on her pajamas.

"Okay okay," she frowns as she gets up. "But I need my beauty sle-"

"Stop whining...your now 13 which means you are a wizard in training,"

"We only become wizards in training when we pass an entrance exam," she corrects me. She has always been the smart one.

Wait... did she say entrance exam. "Who told you about the entrance exam?" I ask.

"I searched it and found out," she says walking into the shower.

I walk down stairs and find my mother in the kitchen preparing breakfast. "Good morning mum," I say as I inhale the beautiful smell of waffles.

"Oh Good morning Ace," says turning to face me. "Wow you are up before you sister that is amazing," she notes and places a plate with three waffles in front of me.

"Mum Jace told me that we will have an entrance exam...is that true?" I ask hoping she will say no.

But she said ,"yes"

I spread the syrup all over my waffles and eat my delicious meal. "Can you help me practise?" I ask and she quickly place two giant eggs in front of me. One black and the other white, they both had dots on the white one it had black dots and on the black one it had white dots.

"Good morning mum," my sister says and sits next to me. Mum hands her, her food and she digs in. "Those are Monster eggs," she say in awe.

"Are they for us?" I ask.

"Yes and you have to take good care of them...if any of them die you will never be able to get another Monster." She warns.

"What happened to yours?" I curiously ask.

"Okay eat up and I will help you practise then we are off to school," she says changing the topic.

Jace finishes her food and we walk out. "What do you think the test is on?" She asks mum.

"I'm not sure but it's probably on patience, courage, control over you and your magic or something about discipline," I say.

"How could you know that?" my sister asks.

"Um coz I play videogames and watch anime, duh," I say and we take a seat facing mum.

"Lets start with a basic elemental power...you pick which element,"

"Fire," I shout.

"Water," Jace shoutes.

"Okay air it is," mum says.

"But none of us chose it," I whine.

"Yes we did...water plus fire causes vapour which is air," Jace says.

"Correct," mum applauds her.

"Okay miss smarty pants let's see if you can learn air," say and we look at mum.

"I'm only teaching you a basic air punch and kick," she explains.

We are now in the bus headed to school. Mum managed to teach is the basics of magic and air, which was very long and boring but Jace and I managed to learn something.

We arrived a a large castle like building and the bus parks near some other yellow buses. "We have arrived!" he angrily shouts and we all walk out.

I notice a girl with a tie written three which I assume means she a third year student. She was flying around with wings the colour of a rainbow. She looked at me and winked after some time she diapeard and appeared in front of me.

"Hi," she greets.

"Hi I'm Ace," I say introducing myself.

"I'm Lucy and I'm a third year student," she says. "And you look like you are about to do your entrance exam," she says.

"Yep," I say popping the p.

"No seriously its happening now," she says pointing behind me.

I turn around and shout," Bye" as I run hoping I won't be late.

"Salutations," I hear a voice greeting and I run towards it and join a hug crowd.

"Salutations headmistress," we all say.

"We will choose people in alphabetic order," she announces.

After a few minutes my name is called since it starts with the letter a. The headmistress was sitting with two other people.

"Okay Ace can you show us your monster egg," they say.I place my egg in front of them and they inspect it. "Can you hatch it?" One of them asks.

"Maybe...I can try," I say and the nod. Using my mum's information I blow a soft fire around the egg with a cold wind to cool it down and some water around it for comfort. The next thing I here is the sound of an egg cracking.
