•An Odd Conversation

The bell rang, signaling lunch, the first of my first day at school. Both the teachers and the students were really friendly to me but Midorima still had not said a word of greeting or apology for the incident that occurred earlier this morning. At first I was just annoyed at him but I realised through the many classes that he was one of the smartest in the class though he was an odd one. He had an odd accent and for some reason he held a netball in his hand the entire day. I knew there was a girls netball team but I didn't think that any guys played it.

"It is lunch, I have the duty to show you around school so hurry up nanodayo." Snapping me from my thoughts, I turned to see the tall bespectacled boy looking at me. He had a frown on his face as he literally and probably metaphorically looked down on me. "Okay, okay." I responded, standing up and pushing my chair under my desk.

"Ois!" The boy with black hair who always seemed to be with Midorima appeared from behind him. Midorima sighed,"this idiot here is Takao and he wants to follow us around." I took a quick look at the duo, they really were quite opposites. Takao seemed like a really cheeky and playful person while Midorima appeared to be pretty reserved, yet, although it Midorima seemed to deny it, the two looked like they got along very well.

"Since Takao-kun is coming along too then you won't mind me either right?" The familiar blonde hair of Rika appeared in my vision. She held a bento box as she hopped onto my desk. I saw Midorima'sv eye twitch. "Okay let's go we don't have all the time in the world nanodayo," he announced as he turned and strides towards the classroom door. Sighing, I got up from my seat and followed him.

The four of us sat in awkward silence in the classroom. We had finished the tour of the school, Midorima had shown me, the gym, classrooms and even the rooftop of the school and now we sat at our desks taking out and eating our bentos. My mother had gone overseas to visit relatives so I had to make my own lunch. I removed the cover of my container to reveal the simple meal containing rice, egg, octopus sausages and steamed vegetables.

"Eh Yoku-chan, did you make that yourself? It looks good." Takao popped next to me to take a look at my packed lunch. Rather sheepishly I explained the reason was because I currently had no one to help me cook.

I turned to see Midorima, who had been silent this entire time, looking intently at the food in my hands. Realising I had noticed his stare, he quickly looked up and made an irritated face,"if you can cook you have to join an after school activity so join cooking nanodayo."

"No, no, no." I said rather alarmed at his suggestion,"I was planning on joining another activity anyway so no time for cooking."

"Oh yeah!" Takao exclaimed, "you said you were a netballer right? Cool" The raven haired boy practically skipped to his friend and scooped up the ball he held in his hand.

"Takao!" The bespectacled boy shouted grabbing the ball before calming down. "Netball is a sport that involves solely on team work and no skill unlike basketball nanodayo."

Rika and I exchanged offended glances at Midorima. Rika opened her mouth to retort but the grouchy green haired boy spoke first," Well I guess if you have shooting, passing or intercepting skills then you will be good at it nanodayo." Although harsh I realised the truth in Midorima's words, looking at Rika's expression I guessed that she felt the same way.
