I'm sorry for mess ups.
I walk home alone in the rain, my feet splashing a few small puddles every now and then. A car speeds past me. I pull my coat tighter around my body. A broken stop light blinks red, the yellow paint slowly peeling off the box.
A black mustang pulls up next to me and points a hand gun at me, “Get in the car,” The mysterious person yells over the rain. I slowly walk up to the car and the door makes a small squeak as it opens. The black leather seats reek off smoke.
“Faster,” The person demands. I sit in the seat and slam the door, shaking the car. The person speeds off and a few minutes later we pull into an abandoned apartment complex, rusted metal pieces cover the ground. He pulls out a neon green rag, I can tell it’s drugged by the horrid smell. A smell that’s unexplainable, but based on previous events it’s probably a knockout drug. He holds it up to my nose and mouth, I sit motionless to prevent me from inhaling the drug. He growls, removes the rag and slaps me. He reapplies the rag while I gasp.
Rookie, I think to myself as everything goes dark.
“You did what,” My brother screams, anger venoming in his tone.
“I slapped the bitch, she wouldn’t take the drug,” The slapper says, defensively, glancing at me.
“I’m not a bitch,” I say as I sit up and rub my head.
“Good she’s awake,” the slapper says sarcastically. He rolls his icy blue eyes.
“Kyle, Be nice,” Justin, my brother says and helps me off the floor.
“Thanks,” I tell my brother and look Kyle up and down. He has dark brown hair, a good strong looking body, a good face structure, and he looks about 20.
“So you’re the newbie,” I ask and stand next to my brother, who puts an arm over my shoulders.
“He’s not new. Maybe if you would stop running away you would know he’s been here about two weeks,” he states. I roll my eyes at my brothers remark.
“Well maybe if it wasn’t so boring here I wouldn’t run off.” I shrug off my bothers arm.
“Well Kyle here is going to look after you. To make sure you don’t run off,” my brother smirks.
“I did not agree to be a babysitter,” Kyle says, glaring at me.
“And I never agreed to be babysat by a newbie,” I say and walk out the garage.
“Hey, everyone, she’s awake.” I hear one of my brothers’ gang members yell.
“Yeah, I’m back and I don’t see a single cup of coffee. Where’s my tiger,” I say in a bitchy tone.
“Who died and made you Queen,” I hear a familiar voice behind me.
“My brother,” I smirk and hug my best friend.
“Bout time you came home we’ve all been worried,” Drew says, dramatically.
“Don’t lie I know you all had a party,” I say and examine the rest of the gang members.
“You’ve all grown so much,” I fake cry.
“Bitch,” Kyle mumbles as he and my brother come inside.
I roll my eyes and I sense Drew’s anger. “Come down he’s been calling me that the whole time I’ve been awake.” I laugh and sit on the couch next to Andrew and Zack. “So any girls join this loser gang,” I ask and hear a few chuckles.
“No you’re still the only one,” Zack slurs and puts his arm around my waist. I roll my eyes and stand up and sit next to Drew. I lay my head on his shoulder and Joseph gives me a glass of water.
“Drew, my head hurts,” I whine then fall asleep, the glass of water falls to the floor.
“Emily, come on wake up,” Drew shakes my shoulders.
“Stop shaking me,” I say and sit up for the second time.
“You gave her too much drug,” my brother slaps Kyle on the back of his head.
“How long have I been asleep,” I ask Drew.
“About 5 days,” My brother answers before Drew. He walks over to me and helps me stand.
“Can I have some water,” I ask no one in particular.
“I’ll get it,” my brother shrugs me onto Drew and runs to the kitchen. I stand off of Drew and sit on the tiled ground.
“I don’t think you should run away anymore,” Drew says and sits next to me.
“Why? I will do whatever I want, whether you like it or not,” I say and stand only to fall back down. I sit up-right and sigh.
“Got your water,” He says and hands me the glass. I take a few sips and glance at my brother and Drew. I could run, I’m a little stronger and faster than them. I think to myself.
I stand and look out the square window. I see a few kids running around, a few drugies trading drugs, and I see moms slapping their kid for the littlest thing. I turn around a observe the way Drew and my brother are sitting, they can’t get up fast enough to stop me. Casually, I set my drink on the window ledge and start running. I hear running behind me and whoever it is can run fast. I see Andrew locking the front door so I turn and run to the garage and just as I see Max lock the door a pair of muscular arms wrap around me.
“Let go of me,” I yell and jam my elbow in his torso.
“Ow,” I freeze and crane my head around. Kyle.
“Let me go Kyle,” I struggle in his arms. My brother and Drew finally show up.
“What were you thinking,” Drew yells.
“She wasn’t thinking. She never thinks.” My brother complains.
“Well then why do you even waste your time protecting me,” I yell and push off Kyle.
“’Cause you’re all I have left,” He yells and walk outside. I scream then run upstairs to my room.
“Em, open the door,” Drew knocks and tries to open my locked door.
“No, go away,” I yell and open my window. I look out and sit on the ledge. My door swings open and my brother walks in along with Drew. I jump out onto a tree that’s like 3 feet from my window.
“Em, please talk to me,” Drew follows, he grabs my elbow and makes me face him. “Why are you acting like this,” He ask, real concern in his eyes.
“Why do you care? You’re just a friend. Ever heard the saying, Friends come and go.” I climb down the tree and jump.
“I care cause-,” Drew stops and jumps down.
“Cause what,” I yell, raising an eyebrow.
“Never mind,” He says, hurt in his eyes.
“Wait Drew,” I shout and run in front of him, blocking his way.
“What,” He says, annoyed.
I kiss his cheek, “I’m sorry.” I turn and walk back to the tree. I climb up to the tippy top and look out at the whole neighborhood. Kids playing army, bad teens getting high, terrible parents are beating their kids with pc pipes. Below I hear branches cracking, I thought I saw Drew go inside. A head appears, a head I would never in a million years expect to see here.
“Hey babe,” I stare, shocked that he would risk coming here.
