The wind kissed Alexandra's rosy cheeks as she looked up at the evening sky.
Her Malibu blonde hair laid messily on the grass while she let out a breath of air. Her toes were slightly scrunched up in her black combat boots that had been a present from Caleb after relentlessly harassing him for them. Her ripped black jeans left her knees exposed to the cool air leaving her skin covered in goosebumps. Caleb had called her an idiot for only wearing her favorite band t-shirt, so he gave her his olive green bomber jacket to keep her warm.
"Tomorrow we're back to school," Alexandra had said breaking the silence, "At least it's our last year."
"A year that feels like a lifetime," Caleb had responded with. Unlike Alexandra he wore something comfier. He had chose to wear his grey joggers and black shoes and shirt. A little more prepared for the weather compared to Alexandra.
"At least you have something to do during the year. No one wants to be around me, and frankly I don't blame them. I'm not exactly welcoming," Alexandra sighed.
"You," Caleb mockingly asked, "Not friendly? No, this isn't the same Lexi we're talking about."
"I don't appreciate your sarcasm Cale. I wouldn't be so rude maybe if people weren't so fuc-,"
"Stop right there," Caleb interrupted her, "Maybe if you didn't swear so much you'd seem more approachable."
"Kiss my ass."
Caleb laughed in response as he turned away from her. It had gotten slightly darker leaving only their eyes full of wander and Alexandra's blonde hair visible. Alexandra had moved over so close to Caleb to the point where her face was buried in his chest as she took deep breaths. Caleb stroked her hair as they lay there in silence once more.
"Danny Fiorentino is hosting a party tomorrow."
"He's the one who managed to claim the first day back party? Thought it would have been Travis Connors."
The first day back party was the party that everyone looked forward too. Obviously, no one enjoyed the idea of heading back to school, but this party was always the last good thing before the stress from homework and tests kicked in. Everyone wants to be the one to host the party. Just about everyone goes and it's the cause of many fights, rumours, and hookups that will later be the talk of the school.
"Why Travis? Cause he gets his daddy to pay for everything," Alexandra said with a snort.
"I was going to say cause he might beat up whoever goes against him, but knowing his spoiled ass that's probably true."
"I hate his dad. He was always insulting me, but brushed it off like it was nothing. Travis never stood up for me either."
"Is that why you guys broke up?"
"No. I just got bored with Travis. We're still good friends now, but whenever his dad sees me he acts as if I'm a piece of trash on the floor."
"Lexi you insulted the fuck out of him, and then vandalized his property."
"Which I think wasn't enough," Alexandra sang in a mocking tone, "He's done far worse to me. He's playing the victim card."
"You egged his car," Caleb said monotone as he stared at her.
She simply shrugged her shoulders as a reply.
"Not my problem."
Deciding to change the subject Caleb spoke up.
"So do you know what you're doing about the college situation?"
Alexandra instantly stiffened, and began to get up. Caleb had been bringing it up for a while now even though she had warned him to stop. However, Caleb does not seem to understand which makes Alexandra's blood boil.
"Grow up Lexi. Stop being so sensitive and sit down." Caleb said reaching for her arm.
"Caleb you know it's none of your fucking business, and you know that. How about you grow up and mind your own business." Alexandra shrugged off his bomber jacket and threw it as his face. She walked away to her Jeep, her most prized possession, and drove off leaving Caleb standing there.
-
Chipped maroon lockers opened and slammed as Alexandra strutted her way down the hall.
She wore a dress, the same colour of Caleb's bomber jacket, her black boots and a black jacket on top. She arrived at her locker and slammed her books into her locker already grumpy on the first day back. Carrying on with her routine of 3 years now she made her way to the vending machine to grab a drink before class began.
"Don't waste your time. I already bought your drink," She heard Caleb say behind her.
She turned to face her best friend in his leather jacket and a flavoured water in his hand. She snatched it from him quickly making their interaction as short as possible.
"Thank you for the drink. Don't worry about our argument by the way I forgive you."
"Didn't know I was in the wrong here."
"Looks like all that smoking you do is killing your brain cells."
Caleb sighed as Alexandra walked away, but as she made her way to her class they both wore a small smile with humour evident on their faces. It didn't matter how serious the argument was. They would always forgive each other, no matter what.

"Man, I'm so hungry," Moaned Alexandra as she stuffed her face with lunch from the cafeteria.
"You have two empty plates in front of you dumbass I can clearly tell," Caleb said sarcastically. With her mouth still full Alexandra gave him a glare as she continued to eat.
"Have you seen this new boy everyone's talking about. My dad agreed to give me my shit back if I made the football team as quarterback. The new guy apparently was captain at his old school. I swear if he takes my spot on my team I will-," Caleb said banging his fists on the table in anger.
"On your period Cale?" Alexandra asked with a smile.
"Hand me a tampon will you darling."
"Glady. I'll even throw in food to stop your fit."
"Is this seat taken," they heard a voice ask.
Caleb turned around while Alexandra looked up to be face to face to the person who caused it all. The reason why she is the way now, and why she moved. In front of her was Zachary Evans wearing a smirk on his face with the same devilish look on his face from five years ago.
