Ivan and Natalie stood in front of the fireplace while Ivan explained to Natalie how to use the Floo network. They had been standing there for 5 minutes and all Ivan had done is explain it to her her.
"Ok, dad." Natalie says with a laugh. "I get it."
The father looks at her and chuckles nervously. "Alright. " He grabs a flower pot with green powder. "Natalie, you go first. I want to make sure you do it right."
Natalie steps into the fireplace and grabs the green powder.
"Be sure to shout very, very clearly, Natalie." He told her in a stern voice.
Natalie throws the powder down and yells, "Diagon Alley!"
The green flames licked her body and she feels a spinning sensation.The sensation stops as she appears in a fireplace. Slowly she climbs out, careful not to hit her head, but instead she catches her foot and trips.
"Whoa!" A boys voice yells as she falls.
Suddenly hands reach out and catch her.
"Th-thanks." She says, her cheeks reddening in embarrassment.
She looked up and hazel eyes stare into her blue ones.
"No problem." The boy says simply and helps Natalie to steady.
Natalie studies the boy for a minute. He had the messy black hair and a green shirt on with jeans. Muggle clothes.
"You alright?" He asked her suddenly.
"Yeah."
"I'm James." He reaches out a hand for her to shake.
"Natalie." She says simply and shakes his hand.
"Are you here to get your school supplies?"
"Yeah." She tells him and smiles. "Are you going to Hogwarts, too?"
"No." He says. "I'm going to Ilvermorny."
"Wait, what?" Natalie asks, her face laced with confusion.
"I'm joking." He tells her with a laugh. "Of course I'm going to Hogwarts."
James' laugh is so contagious, it makes Natalie laugh, too. Suddenly a bang is heard from the fireplace and Ivan stumbles out.
"Dad!" Natalie smiles at him.
"Who's this?" He asks her, gesturing towards James.
"I'm James, sir." He walks over and shakes Ivan's hand.
"Ah, James Potter." Ivan smiles. "Where are your parents?"
"James!" They hear a woman's voice call out.
"Coming, mum!" James calls back. "That would be my mom. You're Ivan and Natalie Keems, right?"
"Of course." Ivan grins at the boy.
"Alright, just come with me."
