It'd been a month since Genos' uncle had passed away. Genos has been staying at Saitama's house ever since. Genos isn't like how he was before. He doesn't smile, he barely talks, and when he does his voice is quiet and hoarse. He seems emotionless, robotic, apathetic. "It's not a good look on him", Saitama thought. Saitama has never been the emotional type, but he tried his best to comfort Genos anyway he could and any chance he got. Despite his efforts, Genos seemed just as broken as he was a month ago.

Saitama tried to put himself in Genos' shoes. Imagine losing 3 important family members in the span of a couple years. Saitama sighed, his eyebrows furrowed. Genos was cooped up in his (Saitama's) room and Saitama was sitting on the living room floor. It really wasn't good that he barely gets out of the house. Saitama racked his brain in thinking of a way he could convince Genos to go outside. Go to the movies? An arcade? Maybe try to set him up with someone? Saitama sighed, for the millionth time, roughly. He stood up, stretching his limbs, and cautiously made his way towards the bedroom door. He gave it a light knock. No answer. He gave it another knock, with slightly more force. Still no answer. Saitama scrunched up his face in confusion and anger. He knew Genos was awake, he could hear shuffling on the other side of the door. He jiggled the doorknob, it was locked. "Genos! Open up!" Saitama yelled. No answer.

Fear washed over Saitama as he tried to not to let his paranoid thoughts consume him. He frantically banged on the door as hard as he could.  A couple seconds later he saw the door swing open, and stared at Genos' drained, tear-stained face. He was only wearing boxers, his upper half exposed. His hair was messy and untamed. Seeing Genos like this was almost painful for Saitama, which for Saitama, meant something. "Yes..Saitama-Sensei?" Genos whispered out. He wasn't even maintaining eye contact with Saitama. Saitama fidgeted nervously, now feeling bad for being aggressive with the loud yelling and knocking. "Uh...I just wanted to see how you were doing." Genos said nothing in response but stared blankly at Saitama.

Saitama coughed, not being comfortable with the current silence. "Do you maybe, want to go for a walk, or something? That fresh air could do you some good." Saitama gave a half smile. Genos opened his mouth to say no, but shut it. He needed to think about this some more. Ever since the...incident, Saitama has been nothing but nice to him in exchange for nothing in return, and it would be rude of Genos to turn him down so abruptly. Genos looked down at the floor, holding back tears. "Sure, Sensei." His voice was cracky and rough. "Just let me get changed." Saitama patiently waited for Genos to come out, leaning his head against the wall and closing his eyes. If he hadn't taken Genos in as his disciple, this wouldn't be happening right now. Genos wouldn't have came to his place. The question that will forever stay in Saitama's mind, unanswered, is if Genos stayed home, would he have protected his uncle from the murderer, or would he have died too? Saitama snaps up, his thoughts interrupted as he hears the bedroom door open. Genos walks out wearing a hoodie with ripped sleeves and jeans , his hair now looking like it was brushed. Saitama slips on his tennis shoes and walks outside, Genos following him.
