Chapter Five

Fernando's P.O.V

David and I both parked in Olalla's driveway. I took a deep breath and released my grip from the steering wheel. I opened my car door and closed it behind me. I looked up to see David waiting for me.

"Come on," David said.

I nodded my head and started to walk up to Olalla's front door. I rang the doorbell. I started getting uncomfortable as I'm waiting for Olalla to open up.

"David! Stop looking at me!"

David chuckled. "I'm sorry man! No homo but you look good bro."

I rolled my eyes. "David, your a married guy with two kids... Why would it ever cross my mind that you’re gay?"

"You never know... "

Eh, true. "What if I just came out the closet?" laughed David.

I laughed knowing he was just joking so I played along. "Look David, I don't mind if you’re gay... Just don't try to hit on me or I will respond back," I said smirking. I went to ring the doorbell again when I saw Olalla with a blank expression on her face. I looked over to David who looked at me and took a step away from me. Good, glad to know we're on the same page.

"Hey Olalla," I said with a cheesy smile.

"Uh... Hey... Fernando..." she said slowly as she looked at David and I. Great my ex wife thinks I'm gay...

"Hey Olalla! How you been?" said a cheery David.

"Good thank you. Are you still with Patricia?" she questioned as she tilted her head to the side.

David looked confused for a second. "Yeah? Why wouldn't I be?"

Olalla looked at me and then at David before shaking her head. "Come in," she said as she stepped aside and opening her door wider.

"Papa!" I smiled as I saw my two wonderful gifts of God running towards me.

"Hey!" I said scooping up one in each arms and twirling them around making them laugh.

"Are we sleeping over your house?" asked Nora.

"Yeah! Sleepover!" jumped Leo enthusiastically.

"Hey! No love for Tio David?" David said as he crossed his arms across his chest.

"Tio!" Nora and Leo yelled running towards David.

"Oh? Now you guys can see me? No, no go back to Nando," he said giving his back to the kids. The kids giggled and Leo started to pull on David's shirt while Nora attached herself to his leg. I chuckled as David fought against the kids.

"So can they sleepover?" I asked focusing my attention on Olalla. "I know its not my night to have them over but-"

"Its fine Fernando... Don't worry about it," she said placing her hand on my shoulder. "I like your new style," she said pointing to my hair.

"Thanks," I said looking at my watch. "I gotta get going," I said giving her a small smile.

"Ok, umm? Let me go upstairs to get their stuff." I nodded as Olalla went upstairs. I looked over to the kids who had David on the floor already. I laughed.

"Hey Nando? Want to help me here?" David said extending his hand out towards me.

"No!" pouted Leo grabbing David's arm. I chuckled.

"Here you go," Olalla said giving me a duffle bag with the kids’ stuff. "Thanks," I said grabbing the bag.

"You look different," mumbled Olalla.
