Depression...you cannot tell from the outside.
It lurks, waiting until you are most vulnerable. Sometimes it creeps up on you, every now and the peeking its head around the corner, letting you know that it is still there. Sometimes it hits you all at once. Basic daily tasks become a chore. You find it nearly impossible to get out of bed in the morning. Every second feels like years. Gradually, your world grows darker and darker as Depression sinks its claws into you deeper...and deeper. Day by day, you grow more downcast, but the people around you have no clue why. The darkness becomes overwhelming. You start to lose all hope that things can ever get better. You find yourself debihilitatingly sad, it comes in waves. You feel like you are trapped, screaming, but nobody ever seems to hear you. Life becomes unbearable. You find yourself wanting to give up.
Depression is no friend.
However, you are not in the battle alone. The people around you, the people who love you and care about you, they want to help you. But they can't help you if they don't know you're hurting. Reach out, because this isn't the end. Pain passes. Wounds heal. But the first step is often the hardest, and it is also the most beneficial. If you find yourself suffering from symptoms of depression, please reach out to someone in your life.
It's always darkest just before the dawn. Believe me, I've been there. It gets better <3
