Jasmine was a tall, potato-like girl with grey-blue which looked like the rain and brunette hair which had hints of blonde. She was stubborn and very opinionated. People did not know she anger issues and a form of ADHD. She also had anxiety and depression but people never found out about her scars. She always planned for the future and how she wanted everything to happen; to get her dream job and be hard working. She knew if that happened she would have no time for romance which is what she wanted. She did not care for love or relationships; she found them disgusting. Eventually, she started getting used to the idea of couples through fandoms and shipping but still did not want it for herself.
One day, she decided to set up a fan-page on the social media site Facebook. She did not know that by doing this she would change her life forever. It was a simple site, a few pictures and information; one Admin. When she invited her friends to the group they joyfully accepted and she ended up having a few people in her group! A few people she did not know also asked to join which she cautiously accepted; she was very aware of strangers on the internet being weirdos. As the rain poured down her window, one request popped up on her friends list. She looked at the persons profile to recognize them from her page; Shane. Not knowing whether to accept, she skimmed his profile to not find any useful information about the boy except his age, 15. He was older than her by 2 and ⅓ years. Being weary, she accepted. Straight after doing so, he messaged her.
"Hi." He said, no emoticons. She wanted to reply but was afraid to; she proceeded to reply with her guard up.
"Hello, how are you?" She briskly typed on her keyboard; her hands shaking. She barely had any real life friends or online friends. If this guy wasn't weird, maybe she could end up being good friends with him.
"I'm good :)." He replied rapidly.
"That's good..." She then replied, still guarding herself."Did I scare you?" He replied, generally concerned. She stared at the message, confused how he could possibly know she was scared.
"Um... Kinda." She texted back before her Mother came into the room. She slammed her laptop down to hide the messages because her Mother was very anxious when it came to her daughter and the internet. She didn't like Jasmine messaging anyone.
"Are you okay?" Jasmines mother, Linda, asked her. She nodded and pretended she was angry at her computer. Linda took her laptop and opened it. Shocked, Linda told Jasmine never to message Shane again. She did not know why because she had barely spoken to him but she agreed not to talk to the boy again, deleting their conversation. She felt guilty for doing so but knew her mother asked her to do it for her own safety.
Later that day, Shane messaged her but she ignored it and did not reply to him. She felt extremely bad for ignoring him but knew it would be better if she didn't. She did not want to be told off by her Mother. Another message came in from Shane.
"I'm sorry if I freaked you out earlier. I didn't mean to, I just wanted to talk like we did on the group comments." She scanned the message and remembered the hilarious conversation they had about shipping in the fandom. Chuckling to herself, she decided to reply but to tell him why she didn't reply was something she did not want to do.
"No, it's not that. I had to go somewhere XD." She typed back, realizing the face she had sent. Face-palming, she shook her head in embarrassment. Her phone chimed, telling her she had another message.
"XD."
She sighed in relief that he used the XD face too. Not many people did but she somehow got that from her cousin and it stuck. Laughing, she danced her fingers across the touch pad keyboard of her phone.
"So, what ya up to?" He replied before she got to even send her message. Deleting it, she thought about what she was actually doing. She was in the car, she totally forgot she was on her way to her step sisters to collect her!
"In the car, on the way to collect my step sister. Wbu?" She tapped back, staring out of the window. Rain still fell down it, tumbling in tiny rivers elegantly. She enjoyed it thoroughly. Jasmine had always loved the rain because of how calming it was to stare at the little rain droplets falling. Like tears from the sky they fell as if someone was crying."I'm on the way to my Dad's house with my lil bro. He's screaming XD." He replied. She felt sorry for him; screaming kids can be a handful but only if you don't know how to control them.
"Awe." She replied, her cheeks slightly flushed red as she continued glaring into the precipitation. She had two long hours ahead of her.
