"What?" Charlotte asks, obviously deciding whether to believe him and go completely crazy or to hang up there and then. "I don't believe you." Her hand hovers over the end call button.
"No!" I shout suddenly finding my voice. I grab my phone from Charlotte. She looks at me with shock.
"What? it's obviously someone playing a prank. How would Harry fucking styles get your number?"
"I....I don't t know." I stutter.
"Exactly." I hate it when shes right. But it sounds like him, they could be a really good impressionist right?
"But it sounds like him?" I say speaking my mind.
"They've probably made a fake phone call from clips of videos or something." She states.
I look down at the phone remembering that we didn't hang up. "Hello?" I speak quietly into the phone.
"Hello..is this Lauryn?" The voice sounded just like him.
"Is....is it really you?" I finally ask.
I stand up and walk down to the edge of the lake so I can actually speak without Charlotte listening. I sit on the bank, pulling at the grass waiting for a reply.
"Yes love, it's me...but you have to promise not to give this number out...please?"
I think I believe him. There's no way some prankster would know how the conversation was going to go. It's too real to be someone else. It's Harry Styles.
"I promise." I say clearly into the phone. I'm somehow managing to stay calm. I guess it hasn't sunk in that it's actually him.
"Thanks." He replies. The line goes dead. He hung up on me. Harry Styles hung up on me. That's something to tweet. You cant tweet that! They'll know you have his number idiot! My conscience scolds me.
I get up from the ground and walk up to the spot where Charlotte was laying. She had her eyes closed but she somehow knew I was there. "So...?" She questions.
"So what?" I reply.
"So, so what, I'm still a rock start, I got my rock moves, and I don't need you." She bursts into the song by P!nk. We both do that quite often. I may be a little more discreet about it however but someone will say something that reminds us of a song, so we start singing that song. Like a musical i Guess. "No but seriously what happened?" She asks.
"I don't think it's him." I state sitting down.
I do actually think it's him. But if I am going to find out, then I can't have Charlotte going all fangirl on me. I need to be discreet.
"Me either." She closes her eyes again.
I pull my phone out and save the number under Harry. If she sees it I can say it was a friend from Scotland, where I used to live. I will eventually tell her but I need to be sure that it's him or not him. My phone buzzes just I set it back down. I have a text. And it's from Harry:
Hey, look I'm sorry for hanging up, it was just getting pretty awkward. Can we text?:) x
I reply:
Sure, it was quite awkward ahaa:) What do you want to talk about? x
I almost instantly get a reply.
I don't mind love:P x
Well, your the one that contacted me...:) x
I press send.
I turn over onto my back so that my front can get a tan. I take off my denim jacket, scrunch it up and use it as a pillow. My phone buzzes yet again.
True. What do you normally talk about with your friends? x
I laugh whilst typing in my reply.
This is going to sound so cheesy, but you and the lads are the topic of most of our conversations. X
So your a hardcore directioner then? x
Understatement of my life, I still can't quite believe it's actually you if I'm honest. x
Well how about I prove it? Do you live near the venue that we played at last night? x
Yea, just a bus journey away. x
Would you like to meet up for a coffee or something? x
I'm going to sound like a right brat but I hate coffee, I prefer tea x
It's fine, we can go to a cafe instead? x
Um yea ok. When? x
Say four o'clock? x
I check the time. 2:39. Right that gives me enough time to think of an excuse and then get the bus.
Alright then, where shall I meet you? x
Come to the back door at the arena and I'll meet you:) x
Ok, see you then:) x
Looking forward to it, bye love x
I put my phone down on the grass. I sigh thinking about what has just happened. Am I actually going to meet Harry Styles? The person that I obsess over, the person that can make me laugh when I'm down and the person that I have fallen in love with? Quite literally.
"Who are you texting?" Charlotte asks me, interrupting my thoughts.
"Just a friend from Scotland, he's down in England with his family and wants to know if I want to meet up."
"When?"
"Four o'clock." I reply hoping the excuse works.
"Alright, well you go and meet him, I'll go home and then we can meet at yours later?" I mentally clap my hands in celebration of my excuse working.
"Sounds like a plan." I grin at her. She was staying at mine tonight. It was the summer holidays so we pretty much just spend the nights at each others houses. "Will you walk me to the bus stop?" I ask.
"Why where are you meeting him?"
"Um...just in a cafe in town." I respond, its not exactly lying is it?
"Oh ok." She stands up brushing the grass off of her clothes.
I pull my denim jacket back on. I'm just going to have to go how i am i guess. Shorts and a vest top. It better not rain.
I slip my phone into my pocket and we walk back up the path the the park entrance.
"So who is this guy from Scotland? Do you like him? Is he good looking?" Charlotte suddenly throws these questions at me.
"Woahhh.....well his name is Harry and before you say anything its just a coincidence, I like him as a friend that's it and he isn't the worst and isn't the best." I answer all her questions.
"Harry huh?"
"Yea harry." i reply bluntly.
"Right." She seems to be processing the information.
Nothing more is said until we arrive at the bus stop.
"I'll see you later babe." Charlotte embraces me in a hug.
"Bye, dad will be home so if I'm not you know to just go in."
"Of coarse, cya." And with that she walks off.
She disappears around the corner as the bus comes down the street. I stick my hand out to get the bus driver to stop.
