It was sunset when we arrived. I took two steps up the porch when we said bye. I looked back but he was gone. I press my lips together and sighed. He was my hero. The one who saved me from those strangers Paul knew. I shook my head at the thought of Paul. I growled softly imaging myself punching him square in the face. He was gonna travel so far into tomorrow.

As I opened the door I saw Paul, surprisingly. "Hi Jane." Paul said nervously as he did a little wave to me. I narrowed my eyes in anger and punched him.

Paul looked back at me rubbing his cheek which was now red. "What was that for?!" He yelled out. I smirked and rubbed my hands together as if they we're cold.

"Paul Web Denas, you have gotten yourself into the worst trouble anyone has ever been through. You're stupid friend Alcatraz attacked me along with three of his other dorks." I said pointing at the door. Paul's face hardened.

"Jane, they aren't my friends." He said scowling at me. "And I'm sorry if I've dragged you into my party." The corner of his lip twitched.

I snarled at him. "Don't make me look like the bad guy, doofus." I said and walked away bumping into his shoulder purposely. "Sorry."

Mom stood up from the couch as she saw me enter the living room. Her face dropped sadly. "Jane! Where have you been?" She asked rubbing my cheeks. I winced in pain.

"Mom please..." I said as my voice trailed off. Mom brought my head up and she looked into my bare soul. Her eyes told me the pain she held inside.

"It's been about thirty minutes since you haven't returned. Where were you?" Mom asked me. I can tell that she was super worried. I was her only daughter anyways. I shook my head.

"I ran after the bus." I lied as I put my head down so she couldn't see me if I was doing so. In the corner of my eye I saw my favorite food. Mac and Cheese. I walked toward it ignoring mom's gasps of worry. I saw no steam coming out of it so I touched it. It was gooey and ice cold. Watery at the same time.

I looked back at mom who turned away. "It sat there for at least an hour." She said, not meeting my face. My eyes dropped to the floor. My insides felt like they we're gonna explode.

"I'm sorry mom." I whispered, as I climbed up the stairs to the second floor. I looked ahead ignoring my instincts to tell her the truth. She'll kill me if she knew about Paul's friends. She'll kill her sister as in my aunt.

I looked at the door of my room. I stood there letting the coldness surround me. I was such a disappointing daughter. Such a disaster.

Weakly, I rubbed my injured back. For God's sake, I was glad that it hasn't been my spine that was hit or else I'll be paralyzed by now. I placed both hands on the cold silver door knob for it was refreshing.

As I got in my room, I flopped down on my bed. Arms stretched out as far as possible. What a cruel family I had. Especially with the Paul I had.

Mom had two brothers; dead Tom and live Romeo. One sister; Riley who was her step sister due to her parents divorce. Riley didn't believe in families for she has told me to run away with her, which has scared me a lot. Tom was the oldest believe it or not. Well two seconds older than Romeo. Romeo was a selfish brother, he acted as if he were more older than the three of them. Mom, also known as Daniela, was the youngest. She thought violence was key to being strong which sounds like a guy thing. She thought peace was a stupid way of loosing war. She believed in nor dark or light. She was an adventurous type. No man has ever thought of her as a weakling.

I admired her a lot. In second grade we had to write two paragraphs about the only person we admired. I chose mom of course.

As I thought about how great of a person mom was I felt my eyelids grow heavy. I yawned a bit and let my eyes fall closed into sleep.
