"She wears her heart safety pinned to her backpack!" Lindsay whispered
"Her backpack is all that she knows!" Madison groaned.
"Well, I mean she's been shot down by strangers!" James said quietly.
"She's all alone, practically turning to stone!" Adam said.
"While holding her backpack!" Lindsay laughed and Madison joined in.
"Shut up you two twats!" I shouted, finally fed up with the two blonde bimbos. Madison glared at me.
"She's terrified by what's inside of her, don't protect her." She said.
"She crawls like a worm from a bird!" Lindsay said once again with that annoying cackle of hers. I slammed my fists on the table as my face turned red with anger.
"Shut the fuck up," I growled.
"Geez, calm down Matt!" Madison scoffed with a flip of her hair. I grabbed my lunch and stood up to go sit somewhere else.
"Wait dude, their just being the jealous girls they are." Adam said but I ignored him and left the cafeteria to go eat outside. As I scanned the picnic tables for somewhere to sit, I saw Riley, sitting alone. I went to her table and smiled at her before sitting down.
"Hey Riley!" I said giving her another smile and she looked down. "It's okay if I sit here, right?" She nodded. "Where are Jack, and Colby?" I asked as I looked around for her closest friends.
"Lunch detention," she replied in a whisper.
"Oh, sorry."
"It's fine," she said as she finally picked her head up and looked me in the eyes. To my surprise she giggled a little.
"What's so funny?" I asked, giving her a weird look. She cautiously reached for my shoulder and plucked off a ladybug. I smiled as I watched her green eyes light up with childish joy as she let it crawl across her fingers. Suddenly, the bug spread it's wings and flew away with a slight buzzing sound. When she looked back to me and noticed my grin she blushed like crazy.
"I'm sorry," she said with a slight laugh.
"Don't be," I said as I took a huge leap and reached for her hand. When my fingers made contact with hers, she jerked them away.
"I'm sorry," she whispered so I could barely hear her as she stood up and ran back into the school.
