The Outbreak {Harry Styles Fanfic}
November 1st:
It's noontime and I'm currently walking back to my apartment with a man I just met. How did I end up in this situation?
Today I regained consciousness after recovering from a coma.
When I first woke it seemed I was alone in my hospital room. At the foot of my bed were documents, or what appeared to be my medical records. "Where is the doctor?" I thought, "where are the nurses?" Documents in hand, I began to read through the doctor's reports and notes scribbled on the pages. While reading a faint gurgling moan came from the hallway diverting my attention to the door. I was hesitant to walk towards the noise; the documents clutched against my chest in one hand and the other curled around the knob and I opened the door just wide enough to poke my head out. The entire corridor was in shambles, papers scattered on the floor, and the nurses station an absolute wreck. It was as if everyone dropped what they were doing and fled. I cautiously proceed down the long, cold, and quiet hall; every doorframe I passed, every room on both the left and right side were empty. Not a person in sight. The atmosphere was extremely eerie and the only sounds being heard were flickering lights, and those faint, distant moans.
I reached a branching path unsure of what to do. Movement could be heard coming from the other end of the corridor on my right. "People!?" I asked in my head. I turn the corner and see a male nurse kneeling on the floor towering over a patient lying on the ground under him. Without thinking I blurted out, "Hello...?" The nurse stopped, completely frozen. His slow and uttered movement of turning his head to look back at me left me in a cold sweat. I could finally make out his profile, but something about his facial features didn't seem quite right.
