The next two days kept me busy as school just started up again. I had barely enough time to breath between going to the, almost, tallest building in Seattle as an intern and back to my campus to go to my classes.
Mark hasn't shown up since Monday, which, I totally am grateful for. I don't think I could stand to see his stupid little smirk across his lips or his idiotic red dyed hair. I pushed back my own dyed hair out of my eyes, and sighing as someone bumped into me from behind. When I turned around I found a stressed-looking Mark. His hair was messy and it still looked brushed, just lazily, his clothes were what made me question.
It wasn't his usual attire, suit and all, it looked more comfortable. Still, how could someone look amazing in a plain dress shirt? Mark noticed me staring and interrupted my thoughts my speaking.
"I see you wanted to dress up as well." He tried to smile at me, yet, something was off. I decided to mess with him a little bit.
"Stop looking so damn smug, mate." I wanted to see what would happen if I just-
"What fucked you in the ass? You're the one who is acting smug around me." Everything suddenly shifted between us.
I almost choked on my own saliva hearing Mark cuss towards me. I ended up coughing, sounding like I was sick with a serious cough.
"Look," Mark said, his hands coming up to land on my shoulders, "I suppose we both woke up the wrong side of the bed. Let's get a handle on ourselves, you especially need to check your attitude before speaking." I nodded my head, still feeling like he keeps trying to order me. The thing is, I obediently follow his orders. His stern voice plays with my mind, the words he uses makes me want to do everything I'm told. Besides, he technically is my boss.
We both walk into the building and almost go our separate ways before the same lady I saw two days shows up, walking frantically towards Mark. She didn't have glasses on like last time, but her face shows just how tired she really is.
"Mr. Fischbach! You missed a meeting early this morning and I had to handle everything, it gave me a huge headache considering the fact you said you would be there." Mark sighed seeing his assistant try to explain what happened.
"Hey, Tara. I woke up late due to messing with paper work all night long. You know, as I got home around five in the morning, you as well. I apologize for being late. Being sleep deprived gets the best of us." I stopped in my tracks hearing Mark speak. As he played with the sleeve of his dress shirt, I did notice how Tara tried to tell Mark what happened during the meeting. She never even noticed me standing there.
The clock read 11:00 A.M. exactly, I wasn't even suppose to be here until thirty minutes after eleven. I rolled my eyes hearing Mark make more excuses and decide business deals with this lady named Tara. As I heard heels walk away I could feel Mark stare at me from the corner of my eyes. I kind of froze realizing I had been eavesdropping into their conversation about work.
"Coffee boy, you know what I like. Bring it up like last time," Mark told me before I glared at him.
"No please and thank you? Did your mom ever teach you manners?" I asked him.
"The only time I will say thank you is if you're a good boy. Anyways, my mom was never close to me so considering the fact I grew up with my dad until he died, I was never really taught manners."
I ignored Mark explain his life story as I only heard the first half of what he said. "G-good boy?" I stuttered out, wondering what he meant by that.
Mark never responded, but gave me a simple smile. I took that as a yes to my question.
"If I'm being honest, I would probably interrupt you fucking your assistant or some shit," I confessed, barely realizing what I said as my hands went in my pocket of my pants.
"You think I would do that to one of my assistants?" Mark gives me a laugh, that sounds just like his voice- deep and inviting.
"It's just a guess, pretty boy. Get your head out of your ass." I tried to say in a rude way, hoping to catch him off guard like before. It was in my nature to be rude like this to friends, in a playful manner, it was just absolutely fun to see Mark's reaction to everything.
"So you agree?" He asks me.
"Huh?" I ask him back.
"You think that I'm very pretty?" My heart race speeds up realizing what I just said. Mark notices me not responding to the simple question he asked.
"There is a fine line between work and relationships, Sean. Doing that to an assistant is something that I may or may not do. Although, I wouldn't say that I swing in that direction." I gulp and realize Mark is starting to walk towards the elevator.
I follow him absentmindedly.
"If it were you I don't think I would have a problem. Maybe I am coming on too strong, still I just can't help myself. I will be waiting for that coffee." Mark tells me, getting on the elevator and leaving me with my thoughts.
A business man and a simple college student? As if!
I roll my eyes as I try to drag my feet out into the cold air once again. It would have been a good idea to bring something to warm me up, I will just have to get a hot coffee for myself.
Without thinking I leave the building, completely ignoring all the other people on my floor that I'm suppose to get coffee for. They can all wait. I felt like a magnet, very attracted to Mark.
My mind was creating scenarios of what would happen when I reach Mark's office like I did two days before. Something about Mark was calling to me and I'm not a hundred percent sure what it was.
I was going to find out, though.
