"creak...creak" You can hear the wood groaning under the weight set upon it as Lily paced nervously back and forth. What was the unsettle twenty-two-year-old so nervous about? Could it possibly be the cold hard snow banging on her window in the middle of Summer? Possibly the crowding mobs of people that demanded the famous oligarchy to step in for the lack of food and fights over scarcely limited land that was somewhat habitable? Or possibly the oceans causing a ruckus due to the lack of the Earth spinning like normal? Well, all of these are extremely stress inducing but, as if the brunette wasn't stressed enough, there was the problem of; she was one of the people who had to fix it.
In this world there are two loved goddesses; Gaelee of the Sun and Malinna of the Moon. These twins had created the world mankind adored, like momma birds building a nest then providing food and comfort. For many hundreds of years humanity lived in peace with the environment, filled with plenty of food, perfect weather, wide area of continent, but one day the harmony came to an end. Without explanation the Earth stopped spinning, causing one half of the Earth to burn from the scorching sun and the other half froze due to the lack of sun. Plants, animals, and people began to die from the two extremes. So, the three kingdoms, Bells, Surpent, and Koron, formed a team of the rulers and best soldiers called The Middle Earth Counsel aka MEC. Emergency trains were built to transport anything alive to the middle of the continent Danse, where the Sun and Moon mixed. Danse is the only continent on Earth, taking up three fourths of the world, so it was plenty easy to transport. However, on the trains people panicked. Why have the two goddesses they loved so dearly betray them?
"No, no, no! I absolutely will not be participating in a suicide mission!" Lilly shouted at her weeping mother.
"Please, think of the kids in this country." She said standing up off of the wooden chair that rocked from her movements. She placed her arm on her shoulder.
"I know you're scared. Everyone is, but you're in power. You have to do this." Her mom let out a tear.
"I said I don't want to die!" Lilly screamed running upstairs. Little did she realize Miné, her twin brother, was on the stairs listening to their conversation. He bit his nails nervously in fright for his dear sister.
Miné was always locked up in the house. He was home schooled, and had butlers tell him about what was happening outside. The reason for all his isolation was the strange left eye he had. It was a murky blue and he couldn't see out of it, so he was always teased for it and many wanted to burn him at the stake for it. Miné thought for a while with his mother's weeps in the background. He soaked up all his courage and ran into his and Lily's room. Lily was in the bathroom washing up and probably pacing in frustration. So he took this chance to quickly grab some clothing to stuff under his pillow. Later, at the stroke of midnight once everyone had gone to bed, he ran down the stairs. As he was just about to leave his mother called to him.
"Lily?" He turned around, the dress making him a bit uncomfortable, but soon he realized that was a mistake.
"Miné? Why are you wearing your sister's clothing?" He looked down at himself with his one eyed covered with a bandage. His sister's pink laced dress littered his body until the knee. White stockings, brown boots, a long pink hood, and an itchy wig that covered the bandage was his ticket to saving his sister.
"No one will notice right?" His voice at it's highest.
"M- Miné, you don't plan to..." She asked shocked. Miné nodded his head.
"I will. I-I'm really scared but, I want to protect Lily. At all costs!" he said before running out the door into the cold snow before his mom could put her input. He took out a piece of paper that was stuffed into his pocket. 'So far...'
Later, he came upon a brightly lit field. The snow didn't reach this area of the Mix. He nervously walked up to the guard that protected the gate.
"Lily Crossfields." The guard saluted before opening the gate. The nervous man walked through and across the field to the group of people. He recognized almost all of them. Luz and Kou, twins and the king and Queen of Bells. The two were famed for their psychic abilities and witchcraft, which is why Bells is so accepting to the idea of witchcraft. Cia, Rima, Aya, and Lola were the others in the oligarchy of Koron. The oligarchy was known best by their creative way of fighting and strategic battle plans. Shie, Qing, Greg, and Lili are the top four generals of the kingdom Surpent, which was an anarchy, but still had some form of police and military. Some of the people he didn't recognize were most likely smaller generals or sergeants. The boy approached the crowd and he noticed the twins look back at him. Kou smiled but Luz rose an eyebrow.
"Lily! It's nice to see you again!" Kou cried cheerfully.
"Y-yes same to you." Miné acted, taking off his hood. The others turned and smiled before returning to their conversations.
"Man, I hate how early they arranged this. It's basically the middle of the night" She sighed very unlike nobility. Luz continued to stare at the brunette with his burning purple tinted eyes. Miné felt uncomfortable with the staring eyes of a king.
"What exactly are we doing here so late anyway?" He asked scratching his cheek.
"Huh? Didn't you read the letter?" Kou raised an eyebrow. Miné fumbled to his pockets but Kou stopped him.
"It's fine, silly. We're gonna be sent off in an hour or so." She took a sip of whatever liquid was in the cup.
"Sent off? As in to start the journey to the goddess?" His eyes grew big in fear. Kou noticed this and patted his shoulder.
"Don't worry. I'm sure the goddess' will understand why we have to face them." She smiled brightly and looked to her brother. "Right?"
"Yeah." Luz spoke after some silence, still eyeing the boy. Kou smirked, leaning against Miné.
"My, oh my, I didn't know you had a thing for good ol' Lily here." She hummed as Luz let out an annoyed sound.
"No, it's just that- "
"Ladies and gentlemen, please report to the air ship!" A man shouted from across the field, behind him a giant air ship labeled 'MEC's Lady.' Miné took this chance to get lost in the crowd to avoid any questions he couldn't answer. He sighed, biting his nail. This is going be a long trip.
