It was getting late, the beautiful Missouri sun setting and dusk luring its way in. Sarah had been talking to Scott all day and all evening. They were really hitting it off and were even trying to arrange a time to meet up and hang out! Things seemed to be going well and Sarah was the happiest she'd been in a long time. She glanced at her silver watch and her jaw dropped. It was nearly 10pm! She didn't want to stop talking to Scott but she felt physically drained. She was exhausted. She said goodbye to him and shut down the laptop. She then walked to her bedroom to get ready for bed. She took off her clothes and put them back neatly in the closet. She then put on her silky black nightdress that perfectly clung to her curves. She looked in the mirror and saw her reflection staring back at her. She'd lost a bit of weight recently and she was feeling happy with her figure. She liked the way she looked. She didn't feel fat anymore. She could see that her skin had started to glow. She thought 'Wow! My skin hasn't looked this good in years! Does Scott really affect me that much?'
This thought plagued her mind. She didn't think she had development feelings for him already but something about him made her stomach flutter. She'd heard about people having so called "butterflies" but she thought it wasn't real. Now she knee that it was real and she liked the way he made her feel. He made her feel special and lovable. He had complimented her every chance he could. He called her beautiful, perfect, lovely and adorable. She'd never been called any of these things before but they have her a warm fuzzy feeling. She felt warm inside rather than the normal numb feeling that used to churn her stomach. It was a nice change. She walked to the bathroom to brush her teeth. She walked quickly back to the bedroom, lifted up the duvet covers and got into bed. It wasn't long before she began to drift off. Tonight was different though. She had a smile on her face. 10 minutes later, Sarah was in a deep sleep. She began to dream about Scott.
Sarah was sat behind the counter at work with nothing to do. There was no customers in the store and the shelves had already been stocked earlier in the day so it was just of waiting for a customer to come in. What seemed like an eternity later when in reality it was only a few minutes, the door of the store quietly opened and an average height man walked it. He had short brown hair and the bluest eyes she'd ever seen.
"Can I help you sir?" Sarah asked politely.
"Yes, ma'am you certainly can" he replied softly looking straight at Sarah.
She looked up and gasped. It was Scott!
"Oh my goodness, hi!" She said blushing a deep shade of red. She'd never been so embarrassed before.
"I was wondering if you would like to join me for lunch?" He asked softly.
"Sorry I can't, I'm working until 4! In fact how did you know I worked here?" She replied curiously.
"I have connections..." he said winking cheekily at me.
"I don't know if that should worry me or not..." she said hesitantly. Truth was it did worry her. Who did he know that knew where she worked?
"How about dinner then?" He asked with a eager look on his face.
"Sure!" I replied with a slightly unsure tone.
"Good I'll see you at Pierre's at 7! See you later!" He said, giving me a quick kiss on the cheek, making me blush even more. He walked out of the store. That's the moment I then woke up.I opened my eyes to the sun pouring in through the balcony doors. I had forgotten to close the curtains last night in my state of exhaustion. She thought about last nights dream and how she was disappointed that it had ended so soon. She thought about his facial features. She loved every one of them even his flaws like the scar on his forehead. She reached for her phone that was on charge on the bedside table to check the time. It was 9am! She had slept 11 hours straight. That was definitely not normal for her. She felt more awake than usual which felt good. She felt pumped. Her phone then vibrated in her hand. It was a message from Scott.
It read: Sarah, I was wondering if you wanted to grab a coffee or something later to meet properly and get to know each other face to face? Scott x
Inside, she started to have a mini freak out. Had he just asked her out? She felt so excited that she quickly replied:
Hi Scott, yes I would like that. It would be nice to finally meet you! Sarah x
Had they really just put kisses to one another? She started to feel dizzy with excitement. Was this the real deal? She thought.
It was Sarah's day off today so at least she didn't have to pull a sick day at work. She got out of bed and got changed into a long red maxi dress and a pair of sandals. She picked up her phone, grabbed her car keys and left the house. Once she got in her car, she checked her phone again for messages. There was a reply from Scott:
Good! I'll meet you at Starbucks in 10! By the way I'm bringing my cousin with me. You'll like him. Scott x
She replied back instantly:
Aww that will be nice! Ok I'll see you both in 10. Sarah x
She smiled, started the engine and made her way to Starbucks. When she got there, her mind wandered to the thought of Scott's cousin. Who were they? She didn't have long to think so she got out of the car, locked it and walked into the coffee shop. She looked around and caught Scotts gaze at back of the shop. He stood up and waved her over. She walked over slowly. She had never been this nervous before. His cousin still sat in the chair not looking in my direction. From what I could see, his cousin looked bored. I was close to their table when Scott came to greet me.
"Sarah, it's nice to meet you! Wow you look beautiful! By the way this is my cousin, Ashley. Ashley this is Sarah".
Just then Ashley turned around to say hello and when he did my face dropped in shock...It was Ashley Purdy! The bassist from Black Veil Brides.
"Hi, I'm Ashley, how are you?", Ashley asked nicely.
"I know who you are", I replied trying not to sound too hysterical.
"You do?", they both asked in unison.
"Yes, you're the bassist from Black Veil Brides" , I replied casually.Ashley looked astounded. So did Scott for that matter.
"You a fan then?", Scott asked genuinely.
"Yes, I have been for years!", I replied blushing. What I didn't want to tell them is that I loved Ashley to pieces! I dreamed about him, fantasised about us being together even. I had put those thoughts aside because I thought in reality I'd probably never even meet him. But here we are... sat in a coffee shop together. Scott went to order us some drinks. 2 black coffees for them and a tea for me. We sat down and talked for a few hours about bands and what was happening in our lives, like work and our social lives. I learnt a lot about the both of them. Throughout the conversation I couldn't help but notice that Ashley kept looking at me with a puzzled look on his face and I couldn't understand why. What happened next shook me up. I heard his thoughts... he was an empath like me.... He thought I looked pretty in my red dress. I smiled and he must have realised I heard him. He smiled back. It was getting late so we decided to call it a day. We hugged each other goodbye and promised that we'd meet up again soon. I grabbed my things and left the coffee shop. I got in my car and drove home. I hung my coat up on the coat rack and put my car keys on the counter. I put my hand in my pocket to get out my phone when I noticed a scrap piece of paper fell out and onto the carpet. It read:
Call me: 651-7001
Ashley ❤️When did he manage to get that into my pocket? Then I realised he must have done it when we hugged goodbye. He must have been sneaky about it because I didn't feel a thing. Then it hit me... I had Ashley Purdy's number...ASHLEY FREAKING PURDY!!
I jumped up and down enthusiastically at the thought. I got my phone and texted the number:
Hey, this is Sarah. You gave me your number earlier? Just thought I'd text you x
I went and sat on the couch and waited for his reply.
