James woke up at the exact time he had set his alarm clock the night before, 6:15 A.M. He was tired but ready to get to work. He got off his bed and walked to the closet, grabbing the knob and pulling on it as it slowly opened up. He looked through the long rack of hung shirts and folded jeans and finally picked out something, then closing the closet behind his back as he walked out of his room and to the bathroom.
James dried himself off and slipped into his new clean clothes. He combed his hair with the light blue comb that was set on the counter, and was soon filled with little pieces of his darken wet hair. "Now it's time to eat breakfast! But what should I have?" James wondered aloud, and of course he got no response in return. James stood on the top of the stairs, holding onto the railing so he didn't slip from his wet feet against the solid wood. He took each step slowly each step more careful than the last. And once he finally reached the bottom of the stairs he walked through the living room, and into the kitchen.
Ding ding ding! The alarm on top of the stove went off, signaling to James that his pancakes were done cooking. He looked at the golden brown flapjacks win a smile across his face, grabbing the handle on the pan and taking the spatula with the other. He flipped the 3 warm pancakes onto his large plate, steam growing above the plate. He set the pan back down and turned off the stove as he opened the fridge door and took out the syrup. He flicked off the cap and it landed in the sink, it spun around in endless circles until it came to a sudden halt and fell on its side. James chuckled to himself, and took his plate to the table to eat. The pancakes still steaming and his orange juice still spinning in his glass from just being poured, James happily enjoyed his warm and cozy breakfast.
James had just finished washing his dishes when he heard his farm animals slowly waking up. The cows loudly milling about in the fields and the chickens clucking away, as if they were creating a song. I guess it's time to feed the animals. James slipped on his shoes and quickly ran outside into the field of grazing cows, and as he passed them he patted each one on the back. "Good morning cows!" James happily shouted to the black and white grazers. Once James reached the barn he took out the chicken feed and shook it loud enough to alert the chickens it was breakfast. "Come on chickens! It's breakfast time!" And the chickens happily ran towards their "father" to eat. James dumped out a row of the feed and closed the bag, putting it back up against the wall of the barn. The chickens ate quickly, clucking to each other as they did so.
The sheep started baaing loudly, signaling James it was their feeding time. He chuckled to himself as he took the sheep feed from the wall and unrolled it. "Alright my little wool makers it's time for your breakfast." James dumped a large row of feed around the inside of the sheep gate, allowing the sheep to happily eat. One of the sheep baad as if. They were saying "thank you" James replied, "Your welcome!" Next James checked the horses food and water, but they just needed water. He found the hose laying right near they're gates, just where he left it. He picked it up, twisted the water spout and it turned on, filling up the empty water troff for the horses. Finally, all of my animals are fed! That took long enough...I guess it's time to visit my parents. James thought as he glanced down at his watch, the hands were pointing at 11:05. Oh no, I'm gonna be late! And with that James ran off inside.James drove off in a hurry, starting the car quickly and slamming his door. He put on his seat belt and pounded his foot on the gas, shooting him and his car forward at full speed heading towards a red light. Shit.. James took his foot off the gas and slammed down on the brakes, just in time too! A car cut in front of him, almost kicking off the road! "Hey! What's wrong with you?" He shouted out of his open window to the car in front of him. He waited for a response and he got one, a nice finger gesture from the man in the front car. Jerk...
He was halfway through the city when he got a phone call, he looked at the phone screen and saw it was his mom. James clicked the green answer button and held it up to his ear.
"JAMES MARTY FIELDMAN YOU BETTER BE HERE IN FIVE MINUTES!""Sorry mom, I lost track of time feeding the animals-OH NO I FORGOT TO TURN OFF THE HOSE!"
"JAMES YOU BETTER NOT TURN BACK I SWEAR I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU!"
"Fine..I won't but you're coming back to my house to clean up the water!"
"FINE JUST GET YOUR BUTT OVER HERE!"
Click.
James had finally reached his parents house, and in the nick of time as well. His mom sounded really angry at him for being 5 minutes late for their tea. "Mom? Dad? Open the door!" BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! His knuckles ached from pounding on the door, so he just shouted for someone to open the door. He soon heard the humming noise from his dad's medical scooter coming towards the door. "James! We missed you!" His fathers gravely old voice said happily. James hated seeing his dad this way, in a medical scooter because his legs no longer work. Everything was such advanced technology these days that his dad didn't even know how to go forward in his scooter! "Hey dad, where's mom? She was yelling at me on the phone only a few minutes ago..." His dad chuckled his cute little laugh, "She's in the kitchen warming the tea back up. It got cold waiting for you."
"Is that James honey? JAMES YOU HAVE SOME EXPLAINING TO DO!" James' mom screamed at the top of her lungs. His father covered his ears, clearly annoyed by his wife's yelling. James rolled his eyes and walked into the kitchen quickly. "Yes mother?" He asked in a childish tone, "You wanted me?" His mom whipped her head around from the stove to glare at him. "Don't yes mother me! Why were you 5 minutes and 52 seconds late today!" How is she so specific yet she's 64? James wondered as his mother gave him an evil look. "The animals needed extra attention today..." He lied, hoping his mother wouldn't notice. He didn't want his mom knowing and worrying about him almost getting into an accident. "Mmhmm... I'm dropping it today but next time you're not leaving this house until you tell me the truth." His mom took the plate of tea into the living room, James following behind her with spoons and sugar.
"More sugar dear?" His father asked James, but he just shook his head. "I must get going. It's getting late and I need my sleep." His father nodded and rolled up the bag of sugar. "Well if you really must be going, I want you to have this.." His mother handed James a notebook, the white pages yellowing from old age. "It was your grandfathers back from 2000, he told me before he died to give it to you after your father turned 70." It was the year 2040 now and something from 40 years ago is like finding treasure! "Th-thank you so much mom..I love it!" His mother gave him a hug and smiled. "Now you must promise me to give this to your son or daughter once you turn 70, like your father did..." James gave his mother a slight nod before opening the old squeaky door and heading out.James had finally arrived back home, he checked the time on his stove. The red blinking lights read 10:00, he had arrived home just in time for sleep. He walked upstairs and turned a corner to go into the bathroom. James opened the cabinet and took out his toothbrush and toothpaste, turning on the water and began to brush his teeth quietly. Once he was done he spit out the foam in his mouth and rinsed it out before shutting the water off and putting away his items in the cabinet. James sighed happily, Ah another normal non-different day it my small quiet town of Jones Texas. He though to himself. James walked back into the upstairs hallway and walked sleepily into his bedroom, flopping face down on his bed. I'm so exhausted...I really need some sleep. James closed his eyes softly and drifted off into a deep sleep...
