The sorting

3rd person POV

The Demigods were waiting outside while the first years were being sorted. They waited and waited. Finally McGonagall came and told them it was time to introduce them.

"-welcome our new students." Was all they heard when they walked in. Every pair of eyes, student and teacher was on them.

"Chase, Annabeth." Has her name was called she stepped forward to the object that made everyone nervous... a hat. She sat on the stool and placed the hat on her head.

Time was going by and by. Everyone was anxious to see what house she was going to be in. It had never taken this long to sort before. With every passing moment more tears filled Annabeth's eyes. The memories of Tartarus coming back. The memories of Luke, the war, Thalia's death on half-blood hill, Zoë Nightshade, Bob staying behind to help them close the doors of death. Also Percy and the seven all making each other laugh. The time Annabeth witnessed Percy blow up a school. The time without him. The time Percy made a volcano erupt. The time they thought he was dead while he was at Calypso's island. The spiders. Her dad. Camp half-blood. Everything that formed her came back. Her rights her wrongs.

Still the air held no noise. The hat has not spoke. Either in shock of what she's done or still going through her precious memories. The memories that had caused so much pain and the memories which caused so much happiness.

Finally after what seemed like forever for the students the hat shouts out "Griffinclaw!" Never -except once many many years ago- has anyone been put in two different houses. Griffindor for bravery and Ravenclaw for the intelligence from her mother.

Dumbledore no longer held a twinkle in his eyes. They had become serious orbs. He stared at the demigods with a flame in his eyes. He didn't want them to bring any attention to themselves.

Annabeth just got up and stood to the side has she waited to be told where to sit. She waited has they said the next name, "Di Angelo, Nico." He walked up putting mental barriers for his memories has he walked. He sat down has the hat was placed on his head. It was silent has the hat argued with Nico about the walls he had put up. Once Nico had put them down the hat looked through his memories.

His family and him were playing in the hotel. Zeus killing his mother, being in the casino, being brought out to a new world. Bianca's death, Tartarus, trying to bring back his sister everything that happened to him came back in a flash. After awhile the hat gave up shouting out...

Percy's POV

I had zoned out waiting for my name to be called. I had asked to go last because I didn't like being before people. That was when I heard it. The slight hissing of snakes. More than one. That could either be Medusa or her sisters the gorgons. I stood up and pulled out my pen. My friends looked at me worriedly. I put away my pen trying to not frighten anyone.

"Jackson, Perseus." Right then my name was called, the gorgons burst in. I didn't even have time to correct them on my name.

"I smell Demigods...  children of the big three are here including the one that killed our sister." The gorgons said. "Where are y'all!" They shouted at once.

"We're here!" Hazel shouted trying to protect the wizards, whose spells had no effect on them.

The wizards looked panicked. Pulling out their wands. "Don't!" I shouted, "Y'all's magic won't work on them." I said pulling out my pen.

"And what are you gonna do draw on it?" A wizard shouted.

I was not going to let a wizard say that about me. I smirked as a I uncapped Riptide and the others got out their weapons. The wizards gasped. I charged at the gorgons -who did not know when to give up- at full speed. Dodging and striking. After the others joined in we confused them and beat them. After that show everyone was looking at me. They took me out of the room and said, "That is enough excitement for one day we will sort you at breakfast."

I had to sleep with my fellow demigods who had gotten in more than one house. And since they are in more than one they can choose who to join for classes and choose where they want to sit. I will not be ready for the next day. Sorting did not look fun. It looked of torture. Once everyone had been sorted they looked ready to cry.
