We arrive at our destination. Aisha keeps her head down while I walk her to my house. She has no idea what's going to happen for her. I know it's going to change her life. I stop, tell her to lift her head and she does. We are both looking at a small little wooden house. She's a little surprised and wondering why we are here. I call my mom and dad outside, hoping they can hear me. I hear their footsteps running outside, they would recognize my voice anywhere. I know they are going to start screaming with fear and happiness when they come out. When they see me, as I said, they are screaming with fear and happiness. They are happy they never lost their daughter completely but they are scared that I came to them as a ghost. I pass them some documents, but don't ask how I got them, I have my benifits of being a ghost. My mother and father are wondering why I passed them adoption documents. I explain to them that Aisha is just like me and she is going through what I went through. I told them about her parents and her family. They started crying a little and I could see Aisha is remaining strong, still holding on to the hope in her eyes.
"I don't know if you guys want to adopt her. If you guys do... it would mean the world to Aisha." I explain
My mother walks up to Aisha, still deciding what to do while my father signs the documents. It's all up to my mother and I hope she does the right thing, for Aisha.
"Where's my pen?" She asks.
My father hands her a pen and she starts to sign the documents. Aisha is screaming at the top of her lungs with happiness. I just changed her world like no one has ever done for her. As soon as my parents hand the documents to me, she rushes in to their arms bringing on a great big hug. They hug her back. My new step sister is feeling my mother's stomach.
"Is it a boy or a girl?" She asks. What does she mean by that?
"Oh gosh, with all this excitement of a new child and my precious gift of life, I forgot to tell you, you are having a new sister baby." She says.
I'm screaming on the inside. I'm leaping with joy while I fly around the house. I could see Aisha is bouncing, oozing happiness. I have a sister to care about and now Aisha will have a baby sister to care for too. My mood starts to go down though. I know I can't stay. I can't stay with my parents, my soon to be baby sister, and Aisha.
"I can't stay." I say.
There moods changed quickly from happiness to sadness. Aisha walks up to me.
"Why can't you stay? You can live here. It's your house. Why can't you stay?" She asks.
"I'm a ghost. As much as I want to stay... my home is up in the clouds. I can never physically be with you guys. I can come to visit but I can't stay forever. I am truly sorry." I say.
They hold out their arms for a hug and I jump right in. I know my skin goes through them but I don't care. I don't want to leave them but this will be the last hug forever. We are all crying. Tears spilling on my ghostly skin. I catch a sparkle flicker in the corner of my eye. I notice something about my hand. Sparkles start to cover my skin. It's shimmering. It's shimmering bright gold dust from the fingertips and explodes a soft glow from my palms. My other hand and feet start to glow with sparkles and bright gold dust. Soon my entire body starts to shimmer. Transforming my body into something new. I see my arms and hands turning into a peach shade. The rest of my body starts to transform into the peach color. The same color as my skin. I feel my skin. My skin that I thought was gone forever. As soon as the shimmer disappears, my parents and Aisha hug me. I don't object. It's the first time in many years and it's something that I never want to miss again. It's that warm feeling warming my veins.
"My sweet baby girl. How I wished for this moment for so long. I envied all the other mothers who have children when I have lost my own. Now... my precious gift of life... has returned and I swear... I will never lose you again." My mother says. She tears up little. I bury my face in her chest. I could hear both our heart beats. Beating like a harmonic drum. Beating in perfect harmony.
"I always dreamed of us being a family together and I'm so glad that we, and Aisha are all together as a family." I say.
"I feel we owe a special thanks to Aisha since she is the reason you returned to us. Praise this special child, for making a holy family, happy again." My mother says sweetly.
"I love you Aisha. You returned me home. It's a precious gift of life. Life that blossoms through me. I will never forget this special day that you brought for our family." I say with kindness.
"I'm so happy for this Layla. I finally have a family that loves me. I never felt this way before. It's like magic that warms my heart." Aisha whispers to me.
We all hugged each other for who knows how long. We all love each other so much and I am so thankful that we have each other to love and to cherish for as long as we all shall live. This is the greatest and most magical moment in my life. I will never forget this special day, where I came back to life, feeling like I can truly belong in this world.
