I rounded the last corner. There is was. Crockbarton house. The stone archway, the foundations from the wrought iron gates. The only sound was the creaking from the gates in the billowing winter winds. I edged up the driveway, one foot in front of the other. The avenue of trees swaying to an untimely beat. Every little sound made me jump. There weren't many things that could scare me, but this place did. CHIME...CHIME....CHIME...CHIME....CHIME....I fell against the nearest tree cowering away from the sound, just wishing it to stop. ...CHIME....CHIME....CHIME....CHIME...CHIME. It stopped. The sound had come from the clock tower that rose high above the trees. It was ten o'clock.

The building itself was falling apart from the seams. They were bricks missing and the ones left were on their last legs. They were cracked beyond repair. Some of the worst ones were crumbling away with the breeze. The foundations on which it lay had decayed with its previous owner. The crenulations that lined the roof made it look like a castle. On top of the clock tower there was a flag pole, missing a flag. Rope once used to hoist a flag was slapping against the pole in the nights bitter winds. There were the remains of Latin inscriptions but they had been eroded by acid rain. I could only make out the last words "FILIA OF NEX" which means daughters of deaths. It curled around the arched stain glass windows like a snake curling round a mouse to suffocate it.

The sound that came next ripped through the silence like a lion ripping through it's pray. Someone was in trouble. Who I didn't know. But the sound was full of pain and desperation. I ran up the moulding steps, nearly slipping on the last one in my race to save the stranger. I came to a halt in front of the deeply set wooden doors. What if they were locked? What if I didn't get there in time? I grabbed the iron door knob and turned, it was open. The door swung open to reveal a large entrance hall. I shut everything out and just concentrated on moving forward. One foot in front of the other. It took all my will power to stop myself from just turning and running away now but the constant screaming kept me going

I finally reached the next door, I stepped trough quickly because I knew if I didn't I wouldn't go any further. The door sung shut behind me. Then I screamed. I turned and ran into the closed door it wouldn't open. It had locked its self. I closed my eyes and tried to control my breathing. It was kind of impossible when I had just come face to face with a giant clown. Its mouth curled up into a wicked smile as if it was laughing at me. It mouth wide open, but it was black just black it looked like it went on for mile and miles. I wide eyes staring straight through me like it could see into my soul. Everything went fuzzy at the edges. The black washed over me.
