Usually, Sophia woke Demi up in the morning. Her little three year old would burst into her room, climb onto her bed, and obnoxiously sing her favorite songs until Demi woke up. She really didn't understand who she got all of her energy from and how her three year old somehow managed to get up before she did, but it was mildly annoying. Thankfully, from Friday to Sunday, Sophia wasn't there to wake her up because she was with her dad and his "icky new girlfriend." Sophia's words, not hers. And since it was Sunday, Demi had to go pick Sophia up from her father's house but she couldn't even bear to get out of bed.
"Babe, you gotta go get Sophia." Just like Wilmer had gotten a new girlfriend, since Sophia's birthday, Demi had decided to take her and Odell's relationship to the next level. It took a lot of time because Demi was hesitant about having a male figure in her life that wasn't Wilmer around her daughter and there was still so much pain from their last attempt at a "relationship." But it was working and Demi was happy. Sophia welcomed Odell with open arms when he wasn't dating her mother but the second time they went to Disneyland, Sophia expressed her dismay for her mother having a new boyfriend.
"Okay, go pick out what you want," Demi said as they entered the fifth gift shop of the day. Regular kids wanted to ride every rollercoaster in the park but Sophia was more set on finding the perfect pair of Minnie ears to match her outfit. Her daughter was such a character and Demi had no idea where she got it from.
"If she wanted Minnie Mouse ears we could've just taken her to the Disney store instead of this expensive ass park," Odell mumbled as he watched Sophia try on a pair of sparkly silver ears then complain that they made her head hurt.
"Yeah, but she likes coming here. And I wanna spend as much time with her as possible since Wilmer is taking her to Florida to see his parents this weekend," Demi said as she folded her arms over her chest.
"Wait, that means we'll have the house to ourselves?" Odell questioned with a growing smirk on his face.
"Odell..."
"And you have the weekend off?" He wrapped his arms around her waist and brought her flush against his body, leaning down to catch her lips in a kiss, which was interrupted by a loud squeak.
"DELL! DON'T TOUCH MY MOMMY!" Sophia screamed, successfully catching the attention of everyone in the store. Demi pulled away and looked down at her daughter who was wearing a scowl on her face.
"Sophia..."
"No!" She stomped her little foot down before running out of the store causing Demi to chase after her. Odell followed both of them, watching Demi pick Sophia up and carry her back towards him.
"I think it's time to go." Sophia was throwing a little fit and Demi wasn't necessarily the "tough" parent so they had to listen to her screaming and crying the entire way back to the car.
After that little mishap, Demi had explained to Sophia that even though Odell was in her life, she wouldn't love her or pay attention to her any less. It took Sophia a little bit but a few trips to Toys R Us and her favorite yogurt shop and Odell was back in her good graces. They just tried to keep their PDA to a minimum around her.
"Demi, you gotta pick up Sophia." Odell shook her a little more but it was clear that she wasn't waking up. Wilmer had a meeting and Sophia didn't like to stay with his girlfriend, Minka, so Odell sighed and pushed the covers off of him, throwing on a pair of basketball shorts and a tee shirt before grabbing his keys and leaving the house.
Twenty minutes later he arrived at Wilmer's house and rang the doorbell. Needless to say, he wasn't expecting him.
"Odell?"
