There is nothing more frustrating than being a great friend. I am such a great friend that after working 44 hours this week, I have managed to get up at six a.m on a Saturday to conduct an interview for New York's finest. Yep, you guessed it, Tyla Jordan-- my drunkest friend.
At some point you need to let people learn their lesson, but she's been bragging about interviewing Diggy for the past three weeks. So being able to put my name as the source, it's nothing but sweet to me.
"Make sure he signs my picture, J." I hear her grumble from underneath the covers. Only her arm sticking out to impishly scavenge across the nightstand for the picture. She grabs it and sticks her arm straight out. "Here."
I roll my eyes snatching the picture stiffly, shaking my head. But how mad could I really let myself get, I'm meeting a damn God.
"I'll send Trey up to check on you at around noon." I yell as I grab my coat and shut the door. I took my time as I went down the stairs and before I could pull out my keys, to my surprise I was met at the door by a white man in a nice little driver fit.
"Ms. Jordan?" He cleared his throat and approached me. I grabbed tight onto my keys just in case he was on some funny business.
"Bag back, who's asking?" I put my hand out in front of me to insure our distance.
"My apologies, but Mr. Simmons has asked me to provide you with transportation to his home." The man places a friendly smile on his face and opens the door to the all black, tinted Tahoe.
I get into the car cautiously, a little flattered. A little skeptical as to why the interview was at his house, but even more eager to see what he was all about.
I could barely see where we were going but when we arrived at the front of the luxury apartment complex the driver let down my window and I immediately snapped a quick picture. It was so...normal on the outside. It was taller than I expected and a young doorman marched around the entrance trying to beat the cold. My door was opened and I got out gracefully trying to remain calm and suppress my inner teenage fangirl.
I was guided in by the driver who threw his keys to the doorman after the doorman opened the door. The lobby was white and laced with royal blue furniture lined with silver thread, a flat screen tv, and two long desks. It looked like the lobby of an expensive hotel. I took another quick picture before we got onto the elevator and headed straight to the top floor.
When we reached that floor we were prompted to input a 4 digit pin or ring a bell. The driver rung the bell and moments later I was graced with his presence.
"You're not Tyla." He flashed a bright and perfect smile.
"N-no, she was unable to come today. I'm Amajai Williams." I shook his hand, trying not to smile too big.
He let me inside the apartment and it was breathtaking. There was a beautiful window overlooking the city, the sun was just coming in shining on the glossy white grande piano which rested upon a white faux fur rug. A few off white couches resided in that area while across the room was the kitchen area.
It looked as if it was actually added to the apartment. It had hard wood floors and stainless steel appliances. on the other side of the kitchen was where a big black flat screen TV was hung on the wall, two black couches, black faux fur rug, and a black coffee table.
Diggy took a seat on the black couch and turned on the TV. I attempted to sit on the couch opposite of him to prevent closeness but he insisted that I sat next to him.
"So, do you send cars to pick up all of your interviewers?" I take out my computer out of my bag and rested my fingers at the keyboard typing away.
"Just to the ones with," Diggy paused, his face scrunched up trying to find the 'right' word. "potential." He smiled gently.
"Potential? Explain?" I slightly tilt my head, pushing my glasses up on my nose.
"I'd like this to not be included in the interview. You know, if I explain." He requested.
"Okay, Diggy."
"Oh, Daniel is fine." Diggy turns off the TV with all his attention on me now. "I've met your friend a couple times before. Tyla is a cute girl, small, but cute. She had a lot of potential." Diggy emphasized those words, his eyes widening so that I could catch on.
"Ohhhh. I see what you mean." I nod in accordance. "Do I have it?" I ask abruptly, sure that I had it. If he thought Tyla had it I most definitely do too, right?
"It's possible. You're just not as easy." He laughs lightly.
I smile lightly at the comment, trying to figure out if he's only a dick early in the morning. Or if this is an all day thing. But he was cute in a way, with his dirty comments and slight flirting. He had me smiling but hating him all at the same time, it was nice.
At around 12 my stomach growled loud enough that Diggy took notice and stood to his feet.
"I guess it is time to eat. I've held you hostage long enough and made you listen to my terrible jokes, the least I could do would cook for you." He makes his way to the kitchen and in that instant, my heart begins to melt.
This was like a dream come true, he's done everything but kissed me.
