review of Chris Colfer's
"The Land of Stories :
The Wishing Spell"
Colfer's imaginative world of fairy tales opens the minds of young readers to completely new outlooks on stories done over so many times before. In putting a completely new twist on the classics that children have grown up reading for ages, and adding fun new characters such as Frogy and intertwining all the tales, Colfer has written what are sure to become even more timeless tales.
Reading the book often brought me to think of the books I had read as a child. The series is similar to the Narnia Chronicles and Magic Treehouse series.
The writing style and witty characters make the series enjoyable for children of all ages and even their parents.
While there are many deaths and horors like the Brothers Grimm and Christan Anderson stories none of the deaths are graphicly described. There are a few more adult jokes also trickled into the children's series but ones children of 12 and under wouldn't (hopefully) notice.
The novels are so intriguing I couldn't even put them down. Colfer proves his stories are definetly worth the investment.
The thrilling adventures if the bailey twins are sure to catpure the hearts and imaginations of young and older readers.
