Kara hated snow. She also hated the cold winters. Kara lived in England where it was usually cold but never too freezing. If the snow falls Kara's older brother and all the kids in the town would love to play in it.
The crystal glowing snow would cover the town like a thin blanket. Kara would look out of her bedroom window looking with eyes of stone at the happy children playing together in the clear white snow. Kara wasn't suppose to go out in the snow because of her horrid medical condition. Even Kara didn't know the name of the medical condition because it had some long confusing name that no one could remember so everyone just says "because of her illness".
Kara was unfortunately very underweight and had always been very thin and pale like an ill ghost. She'd stare in the mirror for hours wishing she could gain weight and become less pale and just look...well...normal. If she wasn't judging herself she'd be stuck in a great book or cooking some delicious muffins that her mum taught her.
Kara misses her mum. Her mum had passed away when she was 9 and Kara was now 13 , people would tell her she should be over it by now , but
Kara would never be over her loving mum. So Kara and her older brother Daniel lived with their dad in a small old house at the end of a very regular street. The only non-regular thing about the street was their house. The one with the over grown grass in the front garden and the paint peeling of the walls. Kara's dad , John ,was a very busy man , he worked for an animal research company;his job is to research unusual and endangers animals. Kara's dad was also very unorganised and usually forgot very important things! It was on one of those days when Kara found out something terrifying....
"Were moving" dad said in a slow tired kind of voice. "What!!" I screamed back , "where to?".
"Em...em..well...Alaska". That freezing cold place where it snows every single day and the temperature is like minos a million or a trillion I thought ..wait it can't be! "Em...why dad, and what about my 'illness' I'm not allowed in cold weather , remember the doctor said", Kara exclaimed in a confused voice. "Well sweetie pie I need to go there for my job because you know aft..".
"Yeah I know:ever since mum went we haven't had that many opportunities and we're struggling for money" Kara mumbled.
"Yes sweet pea , that's why we're not going to worry about your illness anymore but were going to focus on the good stuff,anyway a bit of cold won't hurt", dad cried in a proud voice.
"But....but...but , how long ? Will be come back? Will I die? Does Daniel know? ",Kara proclaimed.
"Look my sugar dumpling it's ok , we won't be their long and besides it will be great to get a change of scenery".
And that was that. On the next day the family packed up and they were off...
