I was inspired to do this because of Hiromu Arakawa, the amazing person behind FullMetal Alchemist. The manga short this oneshot is based off of is on the Tumblr page chocolateandfrappuccino. Enjoy!

In this oneshot, Martin is 6-years-old and Simon is 4-years-old.

"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

Mrs.Petrov entered the room, holding her laundry basket in absolute shock. Martin, her oldest son, was holding a book on Simon's head, and it was obvious that it had been brought down with force. Simon had tears staining his face and he motioned for his mother.

"Martin! You're bullying Simon again!" Mrs. Petrov scolded, and Simon stood up, his toddler legs bringing him to his mother. He collapsed on her chest, crying. Martin, however, set the book down and crossed his arms, glaring at his little brother.

"Martin! You're his older brother! You're supposed to protect him, not hurt him." Their mother snapped, turning her focus to Simon, ruffling the 4-year-old's brown hair. "You have such a mean older brother, don't you, Simon? Aww, there's a bump."

She turned to Martin once again, and his small index finger pushed up the glasses on his small nose. "Apologize to your little brother." Martin scowled and looked at the angry toddler, who had tears streaming out of his green eyes. His small hand was scrunching their mother's apron.

"MARTIN!" their mother screamed as he slapped Simon right in the face, causing the younger to scream loudly, then the older dashed out angrily. "TELL SIMON YOU'RE SORRY!"

"Hmph!" Martin growled loudly, sitting in the hall. "I hate Simon! Ever since he came along, it's always been 'But you're his older brother' or 'You're the older brother so you have to put up with it!' Mother's picking favorites. She doesn't even love me!"

Now, Martin was sitting next to bathroom, where his father was washing his hands, overhearing his conversation with the 6 year old. The older man's brown hair got in his green eyes as he turned to the large bucket carelessy tossed at side of the large sink.

"Мартин. Задръжте това." His father demanded softly, opening the door and holding the bucket out to the ebony-haired child. Martin yelped as he nearly dropped the bucket, figuring out it was filled to the brim with water. "Woah! It's heavy!"

"Do not put it down unless I tell you to," his father asked, continuing to wash his hands. Sighing, Martin gathered all his strength and tried to hold the bucket up. However, the more he tried, the heavier it felt.

Thok! Mr. Petrov opened the door again and saw the bucket on the floor and Martin sitting next to it angrily. "You gave up already?" His father asked, drying his hands on his pants.

Martin pouted. "It's heavy." His father shook his head, adjusting the glasses that rested on his nose. Martin adjusted his own glasses as well, taking the habit from his old man.

"That water bucket is about the same weight as a baby. Now, if you gave up so easily after only 6 seconds, imagine how your mother felt when she had to carry you for 9 months in her stomach. She did it because she loved you. Do not ever say your mother doesn't love you."

Shamefully, Martin looked at his shoes, thinking about his fathers' words over and over.

Mrs. Petrov smiled as her toddler struggled to walk, gripping her apron as he followed her to the kitchen. "Mommy!" Simon squealed, causing his mother to giggle. At that time, Martin got up and marched right over to his mother.

"Oh,Martin, we're going to have stew toni-" His mother paused as Martin ran to Simon, his hand raised. "Martin! You're going to bully Simon again, aren't you?!" At his older brothers actions, Simon whimpered and waddled closer to his mother.

However, instead of a harsh slap, Martin sighed and ruffled his little brother's hair. Confused, both Simon and Mrs. Petrov looked at Martin like he murdered a squirrel. Martin then leaned in and pressed a kiss on the younger's head where he had hit him earlier. "You're not a bad little brother after all." Then Martin nodded his head and walked away.

Mrs. Petrov smiled warmly while Simon rubbed his head with his small hands, looking down at his overalls. "Sweetie?" She asked as her husband came out of the bathroom with the now empty bucket. "Did you tell Martin something?"

"Why, no." Her husband responded, smiling at Simon. "All I asked was for him to empty this water." He motioned towards the bucket. Mrs. Petrov smiled wider and kissed her husbands' cheek.

"I love you."

"I love you too."

I hope I did good on it. And awww, I can just imagine a little Simon in overalls just waddling around.
