It’s just another normal day in Shady Pines, it’s a small little town there never gets anyone new. Everyone knows everyone, its one of “those” towns. I hate it here, can’t wait to leave. Hi, I’m Greer, a typical 17 year old guy, with the same typical life like everyone out there, as far as I know. I would soon find out just how odd my little town was…

It was October 5th, 2009, just after school let out my friends and I were playing around in my driveway, like we always did. “Hey Greer, its your turn.” “Ok, what should I make?” “Well, I need some shooting practice for when I turn 18 and enlist. How bout a gun?” “hmm, ok.” My eyes closed focusing on an image of a Colt .45 with a few extras built on it. My hands came up to my chest, palms facing, slowly getting warm. They started to glow. The warmth got more intense, brighter and brighter the glow became. Sweat started pouring from my face. My hands were ablaze. My eyes shot open, the glow disappeared and the heat subsided. The gun from my mind was now in my hands. “Ohhh nice, you always surprise me with what you make, Greer.” “Thanks Zek, it has ghost ring sights, a flashlight attachment on the left side with a built in walkie-talkie on the right, the antenna can pivot up to get a better signal, without interfering with the sights and a silencer so we wouldn’t bother anyone.” “And everything works unlike when some people try to weave.” Zek said jokingly looking at Fred. “Hey, hey I can make what I like to make, sorry that doesn’t include many weapons.” Fred said ending it by sticking out his tongue. “Aura, its your turn.” I said looking over at her, who was standing next to the house. “Ok, so what should I make?” “Make Greer blush!!! Ha ha” Zek chimed in knowing I had a crush on her. She blushed cause she know it too. “How bout some cherry blossoms?” Fred said breaking the awkward silence. “Ok.” she quickly closed her eyes, brought her hands together in a praying form as they started to glow. Her hands grew brighter and brighter as the clouds above seemed to grow darker. Then she opened her eyes as cherry blossom petals rained from the sky. We all looked up in amazement. Fred and Zek seemed lost in the sky, as I looked at Aura, she looked at me as we shared a smile.

Zek seemed to snap from his stupor. “OH, Greer has a gun, now for bullets and targets, Fred? Can you make something to shoot at?” “Of course I can!!!” Fred said, quickly closing his eyes with his hands balled in a fist at his waist. “Ok, while he does that I’ll make the bullets.” Zek said with a grin on his face. He closed his eyes and out stretched his arms, his palms wide open and his face to the sky. Both Fred’s and Zek’s hands started glowing, sweat poured from Fred as a few drops of sweat accumulated on Zek’s brow. Their eyes shot open as Zek’s hands gripped tightly the bullets that were now in his hands and Fred had 4 man sized dummies standing behind him. “hmm…well they look decent Fred, good job.” I said as I patted him on the back. “I even made red sand inside of them, so it looks like blood when we shoot them.” He said with a big grin on his face. “I made bout 20 rounds of .45cal so we’ll each get 5 shots.” “oh I don’t want to shoot, I’m not a fan of violent, you know that.” “oh right, you held Greer through that action movie.” Zek chimed in, making us blush again. “well then 20 rounds for the 3 of us…I’ll make 1 more so we all have 7.” “K,” Fred and I both said. Zek put the ammo on the driveway. Then wove another bullet, but it was red tip this time. I made eye contact with him. “ok, last bullet in mine.”

Fred moved the dummies so they were in the garage with the concrete wall behind it, while I loaded the first 7 rounds.

“You go first, Fred.” I said as he walked over to us. “Thanks,” he said with that same grin on his face as I handed him the loaded Colt. Aura held me as he lined up the sights with him target. I softly rubbed her back, calming her instantly. Fred squeezed the trigger and bam bam bam. He spent all 7 rounds as quickly as he could. His spread was everywhere. “Woah, this Colt is nice, look I got him in the eye!!!” “and the knee cap and his liver, you were everywhere.” Zek said laughing. “Nice eye shot, bud.” Aura let go of me as I loaded the next 7 rounds. She shoot beside me, for not liking shooting she always liked to see me fire and she never seemed worried around me either.

I slide the clip in, chambered the first round, then slowly squeezed the trigger. Bam Bam Bam. “Damn…” Fred said. “I hope you don’t mind me taking out all the rest of the eyes, Fred. Ha ha” I had shot every single eye that was left, and I did so faster then Fred shot. I held my hand out for the red tipped round that Zek had been holding. “Let me load it, I want it to be a surprise, ok?’ I handed him the clip. Zek loaded the red tip first then loaded the 6 normal ones, then I handed him the Colt. As him chambered the first round Aura held me once again. Zek popped off the first 6 quickly with a tight grouping the size of a dime. “Watch this.” He squeezed the trigger as the red tip hit the dummy burst into flames. I looked at him and said, “You would.” we all laughed for a seconded, then I quickly grabbed the fire extinguisher from the closest in the garage, putting out the fire. “Good job, Greer.” Aura said as I blushed. Yep, just another day in Shady Pines.
