Hey.

I love you too.

- Itachi.

He placed the pen down, his obsidian black eyes staring at the black ink scrawled elegantly across the white paper almost thoughtfully.

For what seemed like the thousandth time in the span of an hour, the raven-haired male turned to his left, his fingers lightly tracing over hastily scribbled words on pieces of paper. His eyes rested on the stack of letters, approximately forty or so, and he let out an almost inaudible sigh, a certain grief and sorrow in the depths of his dark eyes.

You were always the smart one. How did you figure out why I killed the Clan?

I could never have brought myself to kill you, or Sasuke.

I was supposed to be dead now, you know, but Sasuke spared me because of you.

I wished I could have seen you more. I would have visited, only that I'm an S-ranked criminal, remember?

I put the village first and family behind, but you and Sasuke were more than just family to me.

You didn't have to leave so soon, you know.

- Itachi

His neat, small handwriting was a stark contrast to the near illegible scrawl on the forty-or-so letters.

The man moved the sheet of paper to the side and began to write on a fresh new sheet wordlessly. Forty letters. And he intended to reply to every one of them.

I wish you had sent these letters. I loved them. It's a shame I only discovered them after.

Believe me, I missed you more than you thought. Joining the Akatsuki wasn't really that fun either. I was basically stuck with S-ranked weirdos.

I wonder what would have happened if you had sent these letters.

- Itachi

"Itachi!"

Those stormy yet deceptively calm ebony eyes suddenly flared to life, spinning into a deep crimson with three black tomoe.

I left the Akatsuki, just so you know.

- Itachi

"ITACHI!"

Another sigh left the man's lips as the door to his makeshift home was broken down.

"We found out where you live! Stop trying to run, bastard!"

There was only the fluttering of the old curtains in the wind as the hostile ninja, all donning black cloaks with red clouds on them, charged into the house, only to notice a desk with stationery scattered all over, much to their bewilderment.

Uchiha Itachi had escaped once more. And he had taken with him a stack of letters, a stack of clean papers and a pen.
