CHAPTER ONE: THE EXAM
"Hey Flash, we're heading up to the bar, wanna come?" said a distant voice who turned out to be my friend Nick Andrews.
"Can't man. We got that big exam coming up. I gotta study if I want to pass. And don't you remember, I'm only 20!" I scream at him as I walk away from him.
It was my second year at the Summerfold Academy. I applied here right after high school. The website said "We'll bring the best out of you" I didn't know what they meant by that at the time but I do now. What I thought was a regular old run-of-the-mill Academy is actually a school run by the CIA looking for the best and the brightest students America has to offer. They only accept you if they think you are the best.
I did some track and I played soccer in High School. I got a lot of scholarship offers from big time schools like Oklahoma State University and Stanford but for some strange reason I was drawn here.
I met Nick the first day I was here. He's in the room right next to me in my dorm. For some reason they didn't pair me with someone as a roommate. His roommate dropped out after a few months. Adam I think was his name. Me and Nick were instant friends and we had a lot in common. We both followed the soccer league in England and we had regular debates on the which soccer team is the best. Our favorite teams were rivals so we had a lot to talk about.
As the day progressed I studied for the exam I had over gathering intel from sources. I kept finding my self drifting on and off to the papers I had laying straight on my desk. It was about 10:00 when I decided to try to get some sleep. Approximately 5 minutes later I heard the bang of a door in the next room. Nick was home. Then I heard the squeaking of his bed and I fell back asleep knowing he was safe and asleep.
I woke up the next day to the sound of my alarm clock. The exam I had was at 9:00 and I set my clock to 6:30 so I knew I had plenty of time. I looked out the window and thought to myself "It's too bright out for 6:30." I checked my clock and it said 6:45 but as a precautionary measure I checked my cell phone and it said 8:45. I quickly realized what happened. Nick.
"That prick!" I yelled to myself.
As I ran through the hallway after quickly getting changed into my shorts and a decent t-shirt. My backpack banging on my back with every step I ran to my class. The class in the middle of campus and my dorm was on the Northern edge. I sprinted down through the courtyard and pass the fountain. As I entered the room I checked the clock and it read 8:55. I was on time. I found Nick sitting in the 5th aisle on the very right, seat 115. He was over there laughing like he was watching a "hilarious" internet cat video.
"Hey guy! How you doing?" I said taking the seat right next to him.
"Pretty good sleepy head. You stayed up late last night. Figured you could sleep in a little bit." he said while grinning.
"If I fail this I am kicking your ass" I threatened.
"Oh, hey calm down! It was just a joke, take it easy." he yelled to the entire class.
"Whatever, let's just get this over with."
CHAPTER TWO: PROFESSOR GARRISON
As I sit there at the desk, staring at these black and white pieces of paper I wonder "How could I get him back?" I automatically put that aside and start scribbling words on the snow white paper. I finished the multiple choice already and I was on the essay. I looked up after finishing the question and I realized no one else had finished. Good.
I didn't want to be a show off or anything put I got up and put a little swagger in my step as I walked to the desk to hand it in. I laid it on the table and came back to my seat to grab my stuff. Nick was still on the multiple choice.
