Drea's POV

"The first day at our high school, Rosewood Heights," I tell Spencer.

"Yeah, I'm exhausted," Spencer groans. She spent last night organizing her binders. Who even does that? I think, but don't dare to say to her. She takes her academics very  seriously.

We arrive at the front of our school, and I stare in awe. Students are pouring into the building, and I glance at Spence nervously. She doesn't look at me, though. She's too busy talking a mile a minute about her classes, the teachers, so I just tune her out.

"...dance. I can't wait! ...Drea? Hello?" she stops talking, and sees my worried expression.

"What's wrong?" she says, concern in her voice.

"Nothing, just...nervous? Worried?" I reply, voice shaking slightly.

"Don't be, there's going to be a dance next Friday. You can dress up and everything. It's girls ask boys," she says, and I smile at the last bit. Spence catches this and she mock gasps.

"You already have someone in mind?" she says jokingly.

"No, it's just-" I start to say defensively, but I'm interrupted by a loud ringing.

"You're lucky this time," Spencer says, poking me.

"Saved by the bell," I reply, and we head into school laughing and joking together. This is going to be a long year.

-After School-

I walk out of my last period class and see Spence by our lockers. Surprisingly, we got lockers right next to each other.

"So, is my best friend still breathing? Do I need to call an ambulance?" Spencer says sarcastically, referring to me always saying I'm dying at school. I laugh.

"I'm fine, Spence. It was just so boring, like how could you sit through those forms and lectures?!"

"Wait until tomorrow, when the classes actually start," Spence says dreamily.

"Okay, how do you actually like school?!" I groan. Seriously, my best friend is so weird sometimes.

She doesn't reply, she just finishes placing the last notebook in her locker, and she slams it shut. Finally she turns to me with an idea bright in her eyes.

"Okay, are you down for pizza with the boys tonight?" she asks, already knowing my response.

"YES!" I squeal. It's our tradition to get pizza on the first day of school, and we always dare each other to try weird pizza toppings. Last year I got Ash to try shrimp, and when he spit it out, it landed in some kid's hair. I laughed so hard I almost spit out my drink. It was hilarious. Poor kid, though. Chewed up shrimp in your hair? Nasty.

"Toby's at his photography class, right?" Spence mentions. She never forgets Toby. I nodded.

"It ends in..." I checked my watch. "15 minutes, so we can wait for him. I'll go get Ash?"

Spencer doesn't miss anything. She sees my mood change once I mention Ash, and she smirks.

"Okay, see you in 20? At the school steps," she announces, happy.

"I'll be there."

So this chapter was mostly diyqueen16's idea, but I will admit I changed alot of it, but she gets credit as well because I never would've thought of the 'date' afterschool. I definitely get credit for the shrimp and the pizza. Chewed up shrimp is gross, btw. The sarcastic remarks is all me, I love sarcastic Spencer.
