LAUREN'S POV
New State. New environment. New home. New school.
This has been my life for the past six months. I was getting sick and tired of it and I'm pretty sure the rest of my family are too. Except for my dad of course, who is the main cause of this.
"Moving again? I'm not surprised at all." My younger brother, Chris, said in a sarcastic tone.
We were currently having dinner at California Pizza Kitchen in the state of Virginia. Where we are staying at. Well, temporarily staying at. I'm originally from Miami, Florida. That's where Chris, my younger sister Taylor, and I were born. But like I said, I've been moving around the United States for the past six months.
You see, a few months back, my dad lost his job in Miami. He found a new job as a business man a few weeks after and his boss began to like him. He liked the way he was working that he promoted him. And his promotion made him, well us, move to North Carolina for probably 2 months. He did so well in North Carolina that he was promoted again to New York, which was my home for 2 months also. The same thing happened and he was promoted to Virginia. So far, this has been our longest stay in a state, besides Florida. We've been here for 3 months now and here's my dad telling us we're moving again. I wonder where to.
"Oh come on, Chris, don't say it like that. I promise this is some really good news." My dad started to smile really wide, like he can't contain his excitement.
"What is it, dad?" Taylor asked. "I was promoted again at work and this is the last level of promotion."
"What's that supposed to mean?" I asked as I took a bite of my pasta. "It means that your father is the new President for one of the business buildings."
At my dad's job, there's the boss, the leader of all ten business buildings that he owns across the US. And since he can't control all ten at once, he appoints Presidents in each building.
This was pretty big for my dad. I know how much he loves the business and him being President for one of them is like a dream come true for him. "Congratulations, dad!" I smiled. We all began to congratulate him.
"I'm not finish. The building my boss appointed me to is at .... Los Angeles, California."
California? The place where famous people are at? THE California state?
"That explains why you brought us here." Taylor laughed. "Dad, this is gonna be awesome! I'm actually excited for moving!" I couldn't agree more.
"Kids, I'm not exactly done yet. Since I am the new President, I will have this job for as long as I can, as long as I do it good. And I promise I will. So welcome California, as your new home."
It's always been my dream of living in California, specifically in Los Angeles. Anything could happen(no pun intended) there. I always knew that it's the best place where I can pursue my dream, which is singing and having a good job. Maybe more of singing, but who knows what God has been planning for me. Singing or whatever job I'll have, it's still my dream.
"And lastly, your mother also found a job there as a nurse and we'll both be very busy. So Lauren, Chris, and Taylor, we know how much you've always wanted to go to a boarding school a--"
"No way, mom and dad. You guys didn't." My jaw dropped. They both looked at each other then back at us, nodding. "Yes, we did. You three are now attending Augustine Preparatory Boardig School."
Chris set down his fork. "Take back my tone earlier, dad. I'm really surprised. This is the best news ever."

Arriving in Los Angeles was really exciting. But arriving at our new home was more exciting. It was like a mansion, really big and eye catching. "I call this room!" I heard Taylor yell. I quickly ran upstairs to choose a room. I entered one but didn't like. "Chris could have this room." I thought. I went to the room at the farthest end, and my eyes widened. It had a bathroom, a walk-in closet, and a balcony with an amazing view. It pretty much had enough space for two queen sized beds to fit in. "I call this room!" I say. I hear Chris and Taylor arguing and went to them.
"Kids, aren't you forgetting that your attending a boarding school?" My dad said.
"Oh right.... nevermind I'll take that room, Taylor." He smiled.
We all settled into our new home but not much for us siblings because we were packing some stuff. "We're leaving at 7 in the morning, you got that? If your not ready at that time we're leaving you." My mom reminded us during dinner.
I slept earlier than my usual time. My room was still empty since I won't be staying it as often. I stared at the ceiling as thoughts about tomorrow came running through my mind.
I don't usually feel nervous about entering new schools, but this particular school certainly made me feel this way. It's a boarding school for Pete's sake. Students around the world go there. And that's the problem. What if I'm different from everyone else? Not that different is bad but what if I end up being a loner? It's almost the end of the schoolyear and I'm a sophomore. There's probably around 6 more weeks till the schoolyear ends then summer vacation. I can't make friends in that amount of time, can I?
Oh, who am I kidding? I only made one or two real friends in each of my past schools and they probably don't like me now for leaving them.
I put my pillow over my head and let out a groan. "Lauren, sweetie? Are you still awake?" I heard my mom's voice and turned on my lamp.
"Yeah, mom?" I asked as she sat on the side of my bed.
"Why are you still up? You've got a big day tomorrow."
I sighed. "I know but ... I'm scared, mom." My mother frowned. "Why are you scared?"
"It's just that, what if I'm not good enough like everybody else at the school? What if I'll be left out till my senior year?"
"Lauren, why are you thinking negative? You shouldn't be worrying about those things. I know you, I've watched you grow up, and I know that everything will be okay when you attend that school. You won't have any problems as long as you don't think about them too much. The most important thing, Laur, just be you."
I smiled at my mom. "Thanks mom." I gave her a hug. "Now, go to sleep. I don't want you going to a boarding school with eye bags."
I giggled. "Night, mom. I love you."
She kissed my forehead. "I love you, too."
She turned off the lamp then walked out the door.
She's right. I shouldn't be thinking negative. Oh well, we'll just see how things go tomorrow.
