A man by the name of Alexander (Alex
for short) was the father of a ten-year-old girl named Lacey. Alex's wife had left him, and his daughter was his world. It was a wonderful, cool, autumn day and everything seemed to be going right. Alex had taken Lacey to school, gone to work, and finally picked Lacey up again. He cooked a delicious dinner, and they talked about how each of their days had gone.
8:45 rolled around, and Alex read Lacey's bedtime story to her, putting her to sleep almost immediately. He gave his adorable daughter a kiss on her forehead before making sure her blankets were wrapped tightly around her, and went to his own bedroom.
Alex lay in bed, unable to sleep. What was wrong with him? He was always close to passing out from fatigue by the end of the day.
There was a slight thumping sound from down the hall. Alex thought that it was just Lacey accidentally smacking her hand on the wall, but just in case, he went to check on her.
As he walked down the dark and cold hallways, Alex heard a muffled scream.
'Lacey!'
Alex rushed into his daughter's room and was surprised to see a young looking woman holding a pillow over Lacey's head, obviously intending to suffocate her.
Alex threw the woman off of his daughter and said to her, "Leave Lacey alone."
The strange thing was that Alex never saw the lady's face. She had it covered by her hair.
The woman's hair shifted as if she were smiling.
Alex quickly ran out of the room to get a knife.
When he got back into Lacey's room, she lay still in her bed, eyes wide open. The woman was leaning over her, and there was some sort of dark mist surrounding them.
The strange lady pulled away from Lacey, and it was obvious that she was no longer alive.
Alex closed the distance between himself and the woman threateningly.
In a voice that he never knew he could produce, he said to her, "You killed Lacey. I'll kill you."
The lady turned around, chuckling slightly, "Darling, I'm already dead."
The last face that Alex ever saw was his old wife, smiling sadistically while leaning over her own dead daughter.
