Prologue
Beth laid on her bed, listening to the sound of the humidifier bubble as it boiled the water and turned it into steam. She contentedly made drawings in her sketchbook as Dr.Godfrey restocked her iv bags and checked her vitals. Although Beth spent most of her life in bed, due to being constantly ill, she wasn't lazy. With her sketchbook she drew things from her imagination that people would buy for a fair price.
"Do you think I'll ever be healthy enough to go outside Dr.Godfrey?" Beth asked.
"I've told you about a million times that you can call me Jake, and yes, I do," He answered, while hooking her up to a heart monitor.
"Today? Tomorrow?" Beth inquired excitedly.
"Hey, don't get so excited, you know it's not good for your health," Jake stated, looking at her increasing pulse.
Beth sighed and laid against the backboard of her bed.
Jake looked at her and smiled, "You'll be better soon, I just know it."
