Chapter Two
"How are you feeling today, Beth?" Jake asked checking her vitals.
"Better, but still coughing a lot," Beth stated, coughing.
Jake pours out a small cup of cough syrup and hands it to Beth. She drinks it and thanks him as her cough calms down.
"Thanks Jake, How old are you anyway?" Beth inquired.
"Not that it's any of your business but I'm 22," Jake answered.
"How are you only four years older than me?" Beth exclaimed, looking very surprised.
"Let's just say I was a child prodigy," Jake explained boastingly.
"Ah I see, that's pretty impressive," Beth blushed.
Jake brushes a hair out of her face and kisses her cheek. "You are a very special girl Beth."
"I am?" Beth asks, nervously blushing at his touch. Her face glowed in his presence.
He smiled softly and sat next to her on the bed, wrapping his arm around her. Jake nodded and pulls her closer, causing her to lean on his shoulder.
She hums softly and kisses his neck, "Jake?"
"Hmm?" He responds, holding her closely.
"I really like you," she admits.
"Same here Beth."
"Aww," She smiled, kissing his cheek.
(Jake on left) (Beth on right)
Beth twirled the dragon right on her finger that her Father had given to her before he died when she was eight.
"I'm sorry about your dad Beth..."
"I loved him so much.." Beth cried.
Jake wrapped his arm around her and wiped her tears with his free hand.
"There, there, I'm here now, it's going to be ok."
She nuzzles closer to his shoulder, "Thanks for being here for me Jake."
He leans in and kisses her cheek, "Anything for you Beth."
"You missed," she giggles.
He kisses her lips softly and she kisses back, wrapping her arms around his neck. They were so happy, little did they know that their love was going to be tested.
