She smiles at me as I felt my heart stutter once again at how beautiful she is, and yet she always seems to be putting herself down. I find it hard to believe she doesn't see how beautiful she truly is.
Then we sat there in silence; it's odd how we've been friends for years, and yet she hasn't even noticed the way I look at her.
"Do you think you'll ever meet the right person?" she blurts out before she slaps a hand over her mouth in embarrassment. Her cheeks heated up while her pale green eyes stared at me in horror.
"What do you mean?"
"I-I mean... do you think you'll meet the girl you'll marry soon?"
I sat on the couch and swallowed, should I tell her now? Should I tell her - after all these years? Will she hate me afterwards? Or will she tell me she loves me too? She's never expressed anything more than playfulness or sarcasm...
"I think I have"
She looks taken back; as if I had just spoken a completely different language, "You have? Who? Is it one of the popular girls? I bet it's Stephanie - I've heard people calling her a model. Or is it Anna, that sporty girl that always asks you for study notes? I've heard the guys say she's a pretty one-"
"No, no... it's none of them or anyone from their cliques"
"Oh... than who?" she frowns, trying to think of who I like - or in this case, love. For over several years since I first bumped into her in the school corridor.
"I-I... umm... well.... she's a girl..."
"Then that rules out Mark the football player" she jokes before she elbows my arm, "Come on, you can tell me. We're best friends after all"
"I... I like you..."
She froze, all emotion gone from her face as she stares at me, "What...?"
"I like you. In fact, I-I think I'm in love with you for the past six years now...'
"Oh..." she stands up, picking up her jacket before she started to walk away. My heart stops, I knew I shouldn't have told her...
I jumped off of the couch and ran after her, "Wait! C-"
She turns with her hands on her hips, "And you didn't think to tell me?!"
"W-well I-I-"
"So the past seven years you've known me, six of those you have been in love with me?!"
"Well..."
"You dork," her giggles before she lightly punched my arm, before she stepped closer to me, "I've loved you ever since you tripped over and I caught you"
My heart explodes as she moved closer to me and pressed her lips to mine, possibly the best day in my life, ever.
